Final score: Salford City Reds 42 - 16 Swinton Lions

Rugby League - great game, shame about the administration.

We let them run away with it in the 1st half not helped by the ref giving Salford everything. Our try was excellent. 2nd half we were the better team and could have scored more if not for double movement and a dropped bomb chance. Distribution and handling was quality. Ainscough was top drawer, all Lions did well though. If we play like that we will do very well in Championship 1. Ratchford was immense for Salford, he was really up for it. No show from Holdsworth & Patten which was a shame.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say this will be the year of the Lion!

Very impressed with the performance. Lots of good play from everyone but young Ashall looks as if he could be something special. Everythings pointing to a good season. Does anyone know what as happened to Tommy Gallagher and Adam Ryder neither have figured inthe two games to date. I was expecting big things from Gallagher.

Have to agree with everything said so far. Was proud of the lads tonight they never gave in and in the second half really ran the show. The ref definatley gave the Reds everything in terms of penalties and in one way spoilt the game.I thought our movement of the ball was top class in stages and I too think we are in for a good season.

Good performance. Plenty of effort, never gave up and some good rugby.

On the other message board someone suggested Adam Ryder has signed for Bradford, not sure how true that is? Tommy Gallagher was on holiday last week, don't know about last night.

Excellent performance by the lads. Looking good for this season. I was stood with a Salford fan mate for part of the match and he agreed that the ref was giving Salford a lot of dubious decisions - that said, we must have been giving him the opportunity to give them in the first place.
It was a good performance by the Swinton fans as well on a bitterly cold night. I think we pretty well outsung the Salford fans in the second half. This is something I think has been missing over the last few seasons but hopefully with the move to the Willows we'll see some more fans return and can get a great atmosphere going - any suggestions on better ways to create that great atmosphere (apart from having a winning team)?
Presumably we'll have our own announcer at our home games!

Really enjoyed the game. Watson was outstanding,Foxen came on and made a few great breaks. Holland looked great. Ashall looks fantastic. And everyone looked really fit and knew what they were doing. Massive enthusiasm too.
Very optimistic.

Adam Ryder is playing rugby union on the right wing for Huddersfield YMCA - scored a try for them last Saturday.

Shaun McCrae's verdict on the Lion's performance was also positive.
