No idea what their full strength team looks like. The one they put out was cr4p!
They looked very unfit tbh.
I never like to diss our opposition, but they were, or at least were made to look, very poor.
Was it through Roughyeds brilliance??? Not sure. We'll see what happens against Hunslet in a fortnight. I do feel pretty confident that we won't get as bad a tonking as we did last time we played them at Whitebank tho'.

A very good performance from the Roughyeds today.
First half we showed some good attacking rugby playing down the slope, second half we lost our shape a little as many substitutions were made.
Rats again controlled the game and thought Diveney showed more confidence and played well, also kicked his goals well landing a couple from wide out.
Whitty looked dangerous when he came on and Heaton was excellent again.
First tries for both Bradbury and Fogerty and both looked OK, Williams also got a couple and we moved the ball around well.
In the forwards the Front Row were solid with Elly and Sutton good and Wood-Hulme again producing some blockbusting running, one in particular in the second half he must have knocked off fix or six attempted tackles, but went for glory trying to score when an easy pass would have been a certain try.
Not sure if that is Haven's best team, but if it is, they are in for a very difficult year. For us to Nil them was a very good effort in defence.
Well done to the boys and bring on the Trains Cup.

Whitehaven looked very ill disciplined. Not that they were particularly dirty or anything, just that they gave away loads of silly penalties. Roughyeds had some decent players out today, quite a few I didn't recognise because of the shirts they were wearing. I was pleased with the way Diveney played. He seems to have shaken off his newboy nerves from the game against Rochdale. No idea what their full strength team looks like. The one they put out was cr4p!

A good run out today. Defence was excellent for the most part and it was nice to nil the opposition for once.
Heaton was the stand out for me at his preferred position of full back. Run the ball in all day long and looked very good when joining the line in attack. Diveney was excellent and most of our best incisive moves actually went through him rather than Ratty who was steady rather than spectacular. First look at Bradbury and Fogarty today, Bradbury looked solid and powerful outwide while Fogarty was stocky but looked to have a bit of pace and a good pair of hands. Very promising home debuts.
The pack was very good all round. Gilchrist was fantastic in the opening 15 mins and solid in his second spell. Ellison went O.K but wil have to imporve to stay in the team. Bentley really struggled at times but we know how good he can be. Isherwood looks tough and powerful and Walker didn't really get into the game today. Sutton and Wood-Hulme were superb and constantly bashed Haven out of the way. Wood-Hulme could be the find of the season. Noone looked very good to me , lots of offloads and tackles and Whitmore looked fantastic off the bench with three stunning tackles and lots of good work around the ruck. Clarke was brutal in defence but struggled in attack.
Haven were terrible, never seen a side give away that many penalties just because they couldn't cope with the early pace.
The crowd was awful today at just over 400. Missed out on an entertaining days play.
Overall there are a lot of positives to take into the game in two weeks time and I can't wait for the start of the proper season. COME ON OLDHAM

Well i dont believe it fantastic result for the boys , the principle is that we nilled opposition plus thats 2 Trophies out of two for friendlies , Well done to the lads.
Well done also to Oldham Community Radio for providing coverage as i couldnt make today , gutted .
I read the Diveney finally got shut of the nerves and found his kicking boots at bottom of his bag , Howard Hill certainly sounded like he was out to prove a point by trying to big hit everyone lol No matter what i read what Hunslet fans been saying and they actually took notice of our results so far , so like Brooksy says COME ON OLDHAM !!!

Not 100% certain but I think that they are Foggerty and Foggarty so if that is the case then I would say they are not brothers.
As for the performance i thought we played very well. Their timekeeper was sayin at half time that there was 4 first teamers and about 1/2 dozen fringe players with the rest being A teamers so if that is the case then no it wasnt Whitehaven A but it wasnt the first team either.
Lots of positives and to nil (Even if was a second string Whitehaven team) anyone takes some doing.
Brilliant today, up the Roughyeds!!!!

Agree about today's performance, particularly in the first half, when we could have had 50. Felt sorry for the 20 or so Haven supporters, facing a long journey home after a result like that. We've been there and got the scars!
Finally, what a turnround in 12 months. Didn't we go upto Whitehaven midweek about this time last year and get beat 40-20 by their A team?

No on both accounts. Not related. And certainly not A team, 14 of those on show for Whitehaven were first team players.

Good result , but lets not get carried away here ...............remember Haven went into liquidation and had to dump, get rid off... however you want to phrase it ....of 6 or 7 players from last years squad ....Or so I believe ....

By the way does anyone know what has happened to all the other Clubs on here ......Whitehaven included ..... as I looked for them on here yesterday ( Sunday ) and they are no longer listed , along with around another 10 clubs from C0-Op Champ and Co-op 1, not to mention Super League Clubs ?????

Yesterday was a very good result. Regardless of the team Whitehaven put out our attack was fluid and varied and our defence was resolute, especially when 'Haven had a couple of back to back sets near our line. It is no mean feat to nil any team and that was down to good sweeping defence rather than 'Haven's poor attack. The stand out for me yesterday was how much better Diveney played and what a difference it made having two ball playing half backs in the team who weren't frightened of running at the opposition. This gave us a very varied attack and meant 'Haven were always unsure of where the ball was going and who would be running on to it. On a couple of occasions Diveney's delaying of a pass was top drawer but he was not the only player to have a very good game.
The other stand out for me was how the interchanges didn't really upset the build up on attack and shape on defence. I'm not getting carried away but I certainly feel better than I normally do at this stage in the build up to the season. The picture will be a lot clearer come end of March, beginning of April. But it certainly bodes well after the first two home games eh?

Gillams second try was fantastic right across the pitch, its a shame the video misses the absolutely storming run up the hill from Wood-Hulme knocking off 5 or 6 defenders.
Really looking forward to the Hunslet game. Hopefully we can improve on our performance on their last visit.
