Enjoyed the game, entertaining stuff, some quality rugby played and great tries scored.
The Knights looked like they were going to run away with it early doors, when the Thorman,Presley half back pairing making a lot of gaps and chances for the backs to score a couple of cracking efforts. On the whole first half was very good with a lot of positives from the performance.
Second half deffo was Saints with them dominating for long periods and the Knights hanging on in the end after a second 40 minutes of poor handling, pens and some strange ref decisions that saw the Young Saints side come back into the game playing some fine running rugby.
Some good efforts out there today, Straugheir was my MOM, two tries and two try saving tackles added to the fact that he ran strong all game as well, saw him just shade it from Dave Sutton who was also excellent and the ever busy Jack Lee with his usual allaction display.
Young Hemmings did well and deserves a second chance on this showing, fingers crossed we give him another go.
7 and 12 were superb for Saints and they were a thorn all game, both looked like SL players in the making.

A good runout, yes we made a lit of mistakes and missed a fair few tackles but yet again there was far more positives to take from the game than negatives.

Some entertaining stuff played today which made for brilliant viewing. We scored some really good try's and our forwards ran pretty strong especially Benson who had a superb first stint. A real shame about Jack Lee but if its 8 weeks he shouldnt actually miss a great deal of the all important league campaign, so Stampy or Sparky to take over at 9 then? Was Tom Bush injured aswell? I thought it was a pretty typical saints side, expansive, well drilled and fast! With the additions of Freer and Esders we will have just about our first team and i reckon it will be touch and go for survival but certainly achievable. A big improvment from the first Cas game where it was a similar side, ok against a much better opposition but we certainly looked a lot better today. There were some negatives which im sure DW will address in the coming weeks but these games are the time to get them out of the system so not going to moan.

Onwards and upwards to Gateshead :)

p.s. Not 100% sure but was it Andy on the microphone today. A job well done if it was you!

There seems like there could be a good combination developing between Duane and Danny.

some v strange decisions from the man in the middle

All 3 pre-season games have featured some strange decisions. The officials need warm-up games just as much as the players,it seems.

Enjoyed the game today if a little distracted by using my telescope !!
Some real pluses again, Haynsie ( I tried my best to get him a try  ), thought Dave Sutton against his old mates had a good game, 'Struffer' was excellent, Jonny Presley showed lots of great movement and some great reverse passes to change the emphasis of attack, Benno played a real skipper's game and thought Rice and Hemmings did well too.
Have to say that my man of the match was Saints 4, Tommy Makinson, the angles he was running were SL class. Also impressed with 7, young Karalius, 11 Scott Hale and 12 Danny Jones. It has to be remembered that several of that side are in the GB Academy side and they are full timers.

Yes, Tony, was having a discussion today about the new layout of this site and it's poor on the eye and hard work.

I'll hold my hand up and say that it was me filling in today on the PA. There was an opinion that it's better to do it from Gary's box but it's the very devil trying to pick the scorers ( as you will have noticed !! ) whereas previously the mike person just had to ask the bench. Nick, the usual guy, does a good job. There is a lot of info to get out there during basically just two hours and you can't call it when the ball is in play. Anyway the three of us, me, Gary and John ( timekeeper ) put the world to rights during the course of the afternoon!!

I reckon we're gonna do OK this season.

Lot of good stuff going forward, work to do in defence.

Very worried about the Jack Lee injury, can't afford to miss the
class he showed yesterday when the league starts.
Special mention for Danny Wilson - outstanding yesterday, worked
hard all game, dangerous with the ball & linked well with young Struffer.

One question - where have all the members of the 'choir' gone?
Hope they return for the Cup & League games as we will all need
all the support we can get.

Good news that.

Looks like we are looking overseas for a new centre
according to one of the RL papers today.

Deserves plenty of backing & support on here for the way he
has started this season.

Press today - DW seems confident Jack Lee will be ok for Barrow
or Fev NR Cup game which would be brilliant news.

Bush, Freer, Esders, Lewis, Jones & Woods should also
be ok to play within a week.

Me thinks he's gone to try and twin Brisbane with York, plus he may and call and see if he can arrange a loan with J.R now that Ross's a bank manager.
