Whitehavens loss at oldham put's things into perspective on how they are going to fare in the months to come, they were gloating a little bit about town's result at barrow, but barrow are going to be one of the top teams in the championship and to lose there with the only 16 players left of the town squad it doe's not seem so bad.I think seedsy has a lot of work to do with the players at his disposal and with a couple of more props i still think he will struggle in this division, some of the haven supporters seem to think it is going to be easy but it won't be easy has they have just been walopped by one of the teams thats going to be up at the front when the season ends,i do not say they will be at the bottom but it will be hard for them.I think town if they play well could shock a few teams but if they just turn up with the wrong attitude they will also get done by the top teams, anyway has boxer said"it's was only a friendly"let's hope they improve before the season starts.

It is always difficult to make serious judgements from friendly matches but from some of the results that there has been I think Swinton and Oldham will certainly be two of the top teams in our division. I think we can't afford any complacency and we also could do with a stand-off and a couple of forwards (hows Dobbo doing?).

Swinton put up a good show at Barrow and Oldham also did well at Featherstone, so going by those results we will have our work cut out to compete with them. Both of these teams have recruited well and hopefully neither have overstretched themselves financially as they have some big names amongst them. I fancy Town could make the top four with the right attitude and then who knows where they could end up in the play-offs but to do that we will need no serious long term injuries and everyone giving 110%.
I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.
