Er..... don't you have to win something to be promoted?? That is how you arrived in our division after all (for this season only of course I might add). I can say bye bye now or should I wait till April

ok, no one likes hunslet except hunslet supporters and hunslet supporters like no one but hunslet. mini nationalism with scarves instead of guns. i get it. but what about the ground? who decides that the ground isn't upto spec for promotion to superleague and what are their criteria?

If it's down to the ground spec Batley haven't got a hope in hell of getting promoted with that slagheap on the Mount.

The only half decent thing to come out of Batley are the biscuits and Fox's are that embarrassed about been in Batley that they say they come from Leeds, what does that tell you about the place.

As much as it pains me though, being a Rams supporter, I have to say that over the last few seasons Batley have had one of the best playing surfaces in the whole of the RL competition, including SL. It's better than a living room carpet.

No doubt somebody who knows more than I do will correct me if I'm wrong, but there will be minimum requirements (for SL) with regard to ground capacity (including number of seats, I think)and general facilities (WCs etc).
Ground location also helps. If you're in France, London or Wales you have a better chance for getting into SL than if you're in Batley, Dewsbury... or Hunslet - where established SL clubs are close by.
SL applications also need to be accompanied by average crowd attendances (I think they need a minimum of at least 2500 on average). Being solvent would probably be considered a good thing, as would actually winning something (or getting to a Grand Final) - unless, of course you're from France, London or Wales.

so basically if you get big crowds and you lose you're ok, if you get small crowds and you win you're not ok. i read that these demands were put on SL by sky. hands up those with a sky subscription.

Is that taken directly from the RFL Operations Mannual? It's probably more accurate!

Correct on the above requirments plus a few more.
When we were rejected by Super League another reason given was " there can't be 2 teams from the same city"--- in the 1998 or was it 1999 Grand Final when we beat Dewsbury to qualify, I was in the Directors lounge with a Dewsbury official BEFORE the game when we both overheard a conversation between 2 officials from RL HQ which went " "who do you think will win tonight? "-- reply " it doesn't matter neither team will be allowed into Super League".

if i were a hawks director i would have a bullet point list of reasons why the club can't get into superleague and be working to scrub out every one. the no 2 clubs from the same town sounds ridiculous unless the underlying reason is that no 1 town can generate enough support for 2 top division clubs. but even that's nonsense if you only need 2500 average gate. it just sounds like you've given up.
