I'll use Cumbria as an example as that's where I'm from. Cumberland ARL 1 and Cumberland ARL 2 have cup competitions where teams in either division can get drawn against each other. Is this not a good idea for the RLC to increase the amount of games in the season, for example the Midlands Premier and the Midlands regional divisions enter into an RLC Midlands Cup where teams get drawn against each other (Bit like the League Cup in football). Teams wouldn't always get someone from the other division obviously and thats the beauty of it, the final could be between anyone.
Forgive me if this has ever been thought of already but my opinion is something like this is needed. Maybe it's just me being used to playig a 30 plus game season.

Some leagues do run these. E.g. the South West Cup (was Devon cup) and I believe that the North East has one as well.
At one time there was a RLC Challenge Cup but I think it only lasted one or two seasons.

Too many Cup competitions is one of the problems of the winter season. Local Cups, Consoilation Cups, County Cup, Challenge Cup, National Cup. The league season is completely wrecked by endless cup games and associated weather postponements.
Cups or 9s should only be part of the overall season if they don't interfere with the main event, i.e. before or after the regular season is sorted out.

Not wanting to run any teams down, but in the RLC there can be a vast amount of difference between say a team in a particular regions Premier league and some of the teams in their regional divisions. Whilst a cup competition, if run properly and at the right time, would always be a good way of extending the season, I fear that there would be some right whoopings in the RLC if it was 'all in a hat together'.

I think an RLC Cup would be good, would be great to play some different teams and add more games to the season. There may be some whoopings but there'd be some shocks as well - thats what cups are about!!

Interesting idea. The first few rounds may need some seeding/regional structure in place but if organised and promoted properly it could work.

Bear in mind that if the proposed new structure goes ahead the RLC as such won't exist.
In the new structure, there will almost certainly be scope for a National Cup and local cups. No reason why anyone shouldn't play in the National Cup, and local cups would be run er.. locally.
