Now that the RFL are looking to get approved a minimum capacity of 3000 including 500 seats for application to the Championship from 2012, were does this leave Hunslet, we have stadium (Stand) which holds 2500, minus the 500 seats have been removed by the council (which they say wont get replaced) leave us at about 2000 tops?

So even if we manage to avoid relegation this season we would still be demoted to C1 based on our stadium not been big enough, in 2012 deja vou !! :angry2:

All we need is terrace that holds 1000 down the far side, surely it would cost much to build??

As I've been saying since we moved there in 1995-- terrace the far side, try again to shame the council into honouring their promise made when we gave up our lease at Elland Road (20 years left on it if I remember correctly) so that they could sell the ground back to Leeds United.

I'll tell this story again because it's true,---- after Leeds United Chairman Manny Cousins had agreed a ground sharing deal with the Hunslet Chaiman Jerry Mason, and then (in the 70's) eventually had to let the council take over and rent Elland Road back to the two clubs-- when asked for the first months rent in advance the Hunslet vice chairman Jack Lunn took out his cheque book and paid it straight away-- the Leeds United representative asked for time to pay.

The Leeds council owe Hunslet.

All well and good Frisky, but in these times of austerity and cost-cutting, there's no way Leeds Council are going to provide the terracing. They didn't even manage to finish the stadium off in the "good times" !

However I really don't see why or how we should be stopped from putting some terracing in ourselves. And with the new chairman the owner of a building supply company, and the Leeds College of Building another of our sponsors, there's surely never been a better time !

I would have thought terracing the whole strip opposite the main stand would provide enough area for at least another 2,000. It won't be a simple as that because there'll probably need to be crush barriers, toilets, some sort of access of course, and no doubt other health and safety stuff ...

Meanwhile, imagine the scenario where Hunslet manage to finish either than Widnes (for example) this season. Then at the end of the season, Hunslet get "placed" back into the third tier whilst Widnes (for example) get "placed" into the Super League ... only in Rugby League eh ??

I have been wondering my self what will happen to us, if this gets the go head...it is worrying.

Once again the so called bigger teams, trying to make sure they never go down, and stopping teams having a dream, you know RL makes it self there own worse enemy.

Leeds Council, biggest Council wa***ers inthe country, apart from the hartlepool council that is, cant work out which is the worse council...

They have been used in the stand to replace broken/damaged seats

The club as far as im aware asked the council to replace the 500 seats in the stand, but the council refused stating "we didnt need them, as we dont fill the stand"

I wonder if HIST could help in someway??

Widnes at a push??

Will the council let us build on a council owned facility? I cant see it my self. Is there enough room behind the far side to build a stand with adequate facilities, the road runs right at the back of the wall.

With license sytem coming in 2012 this needs to the number one priority for the club, HIST and our supporters!!!!

What is stopping people sitting on the grass banks like they do at Test Matches in Australia and South Africa?

With Steve Ball being here last season surely the club would have had advanced notice of these plans for the championship seeing as he is involved quite high up at the RFL and you would think that there is some sort of plan in place it was inevitable that licensing was going to be introduced to the lower tiers of the game.

and we did try to have people sitting on the grass a few years ago when we were drawn at home to St Helens in the cup--- we were told NO on Health and Safety grounds, and we would have to provide male and female toilets at that side of the ground.

Can I reword a question I asked earlier ? --- Can anyone tell me how many grounds in the Championship have a 3,000 capacity, and which ones don't?

I was told they were removed and given to Farsley Celtic [who now don't exist] and the seats are just wasting away I presume. The club asked for them back and the council said they can't afford to remove and refit them. I don't know if this is true or not. [Not MY story]
