Great performance from the lads. A bit of composure and we`d have won.

Another great performance from the lads, there is no way they should have lost. Time and again they had Halifax rocking and also had two dubious tries scored against them. One was a blatent knock on in front of the posts and the other a pass that was a yard forwardto Worrency for a try in the corner.Once again the penalty count against us cost us dearly. But overall we matched Halifax in every department. Well done lads and keep it up for the coming season.

Excellent performance. Sign of things to come. For a time at end of first half we looked the team from the higher Division, with Watson, Smithy and Ainscough pulling the strings. Srill things to work on and penalty count again too high.Crowd was disapponting but if we get things right on the pitch I have always believed the fans will be back.Keep it up. Come on you Lions!!!

A brilliant night. Time for the fans to get down to the ground and see some cracking rugby. The first time for a long time that I can say that I really enjoyed a game and came out buzzing.

I agree completely, that was the best I've seen the Lions play in several years. (I know, I only see 1-2 games a year, but still, they played great) My brother-in-law and nephew came with me, and for the first time, were impressed enough to talk about actually watching even when I'm not over.

Now, if eveyone brought their nephew and brother-in-law.....

And to all my friends who I see once or twice a year, I'll be back later in the season, hopefully with more time to socialise!

Geoff.

I know this posting is way after the event and I was sorry to learn about your car.

I thought that that performance by the Lions last night was top draw and the best we have seen for many months, especially following on from good performances against Barrow and even Salford.

As for the crowd lets not be to down beat there may have been a few who didn't make it due to the tailbacks on the surrounding motorways, but I thought the atmosphere was the best we have had for many a game at Sedgely and I personally liked going there.

I would have posted on here last night but upon returning home from the game and ended up spending the night throwing up, moral of the story don't touch the selmonella burgers at the Willows.!!!!

Great performance Swinton well done.

Brilliant performance by the Lions! All departments played well. Some really good pieces of ingenuity thrown in there eg the cross field grubber to under the sticks by Watto in the first half - I thought it was a cross from Danny Wilson's young 'un for the Reds on the left wing! If we can play like that for the rest of the season and just keep our heads at the crucial moments we'll be up at the top for sure.
Spread the word, come and watch, Swinton with a winning team! Let's boost the attendances. Really good atmosphere with even a few bursts of singing! Come on you Lions!!!

For the the first time in a long time i enjoyed the game thoroughly! I thought generally Watto's kicking was really impressive. Some dodgy decisions went against us but that will happen in general at this level. On another day we could have won, a bonus point picked up which we certainly wouldn't have got last season, and it wasn't our strongest team! Thought the big difference was the Halifax defence in he second half, they kept us out time and again which probably won them the game in the end. Well done Lions, keep it up for Leigh next week and the rest of the season!

Think we deserved it on the night. If we had the rub of the green on decisions and the bounce of the ball we'd have won it.

Well done to the team for never giving in and if I'm honest I wouldn't swap any of our players for any of theirs from what I saw.

As everyone else has said it was a really good all round team performance. For me Ian Watson looks a different player this season, in the two games ive seen
hes been outstanding.I think it stems from Boozer asking him if he was going to try harder at the race night. We could so easily have won with a bit more luck.Twice we gave away penalties on the last tackle that resulted us in conceding a try. When you consider we were missing Phil Joseph and Tommy Gallagher it looks really promising for the season ahead. The attendance of 916 was also very encouraging,Sedgley would have looked full with those numbers.Another plus for me was the team photo in the match programme which looked much more professional than recent seasons.Lets hope this can be displayed in a poster format incorporating fixtures that could be distributed to pubs/clubs/shops in the M27 area and beyond.
