To take a bonus point of one of the top four championship sides cant be bad had we not made so many errors could have had all three , we could not match them for pace in the first half, but more than matched them in fitness and looked to be the fitter side at the end,the real plus is this was not our first choice squad today we can only get better
bring on Fev.

Brillaint start to the campaign, everyone had us down to get a real walloping so well done to all the lads and the coaching team. Long hard season ahead as we all know but thsi has to give the lads some well deserved confidence, especially away form home at a difficult place to go and get any type of result.

Good start lads.

Yeah im pleased with the result and the lads deserve their praise, hopefully they will take great confidence from this.

I may get shot down for this and im not taking anything away from the lads but this is only 1 game out of a very long season. I was really pleased to hear DW on the radio looking at this as a confidence builder but still looking at our errors and our mistakes and that for me is what makes him a better coach than any we have had at the knights in our short history.

I hope Haynes' injury isnt a bad one as he is a key assett to our squad, i dont think Straughier's will keep him out so we should be ok there.

Overall a good opening day but by no means perfect and im looking forward to Fev next week!

Well done lads, keep playing with your hearts on your sleeve and the crowds will be back in no time :):):)

Looking forward to next Sunday. We (Fev) had a nice run out against a spirited Doncaster on Friday who I feel were helped by the gales. Dons never gave in but with the weather our expansive game was compromised slightly.

Different kettle of fish at your place. A lot of people are talking that the league has become closer however I feel that we have become stronger with apt signings and losing only the few. I dont know much about your side this year and how well you have recruited however you looked good in the play off final

Looking forward to making it over to your gaff and having a couple of beers with a RL community who I have always found welcoming. I think we look good for the silverware this year (I know its early and all sorts can change)and look forward to welcoming you all down to the Bigfellas, Post Office Road later on in the year.

It was a right performance, John, for the most part.
Real credit to the lads today for never giving in and, had there been another five minutes available, we would have nicked it.
Spoke to a couple of the lads after the game and they were in harmony with Dave's comments that without some silly errors they would have turned the Raiders over.
Number of candidates for MOM - Benno, who did the 80 at loose, CT who looked at least a class better than Jamie Rooney, Presley who just kept going and going and Barrow had to resort to professional fouls to keep him out. Think Silverwood had left his cards at home as Danny Wilson was lucky not to get 10 in the first half.
Ben Jones went well, Jack Lee got better as the game went on - he was like an irritating fly that Barrow just couldnt swat, The other two of the back three, Ezo and Davies were superb and Nathan Massey looked like he had Knights written through him like a stick of rock so big was his effort. Fantastic bit of work from Matt Garside to get Elvis in, in the last minute.
Must say that we were made to feel more than welcome by the Barrow folk and will look forward to our return in March.
I'm gonna look at the DVD tonight but I'm convinced ref called held up on Harrison before he released for Gleeson to score their first.

 Looking at other comments from the Barrow Forum it would seem the Knights could be a team that can only get better, and for supporters of the Knights that can't come as a bad thing, fitness and playing with team spirit will be rewarded, the Fev game will show if we've got the front to go forward to better things, I've faith in DW to get the lads motivated into awinning frame of mind.

Not much in it for me but, on that showing, I would have Thorman over Rooney!

Pretty impressed with that yesterday, Press gave Davies MOM, can't
argue with that, but thought Massey was outstanding.

Special mention for Wilson, CT, Benno, Esders, Lee & Johny Presley
who started quietly & then got better & better as the game went on.

Impressed with the fitness & stamina, overall well worth the 2 days
of non-stop rain we had before the game up there.

Just shows how sometimes we call something and a second look betrays that opinion.
Richard Silverwood didnt call 'held up'. His signal was to indicate that Harrison's ball carrying arm had'nt hit the deck before he released though it does look touch and go.

Something else for you Andy,
Think it was Barrow's last try - when the ball had gone left to right
across the field & then back to the left hand corner, reckon it was on
the 7th tackle?

Barrow fans didn't agree, but others from York also thought the same.

Hi Col.
Yep, you're absolutely right.
The 6th tackle was on Ned Catic, over on the right hand side ( made by Matty Garside ).
It should have been the handover, Barrow swung the ball left and Ostler scored, converted by Rooney !!!

Thanks Andy, knew you wouldn't let me down, one Barrow fan gave
made a load of stick about it, but Gary Hall was stood behind me
and he said it was 7 tackles.
