Not to mention Leigh's beating of Salford in a pre-season friendly.

Ian Millward hasn't lost his touch.

Rugby League - great game, shame about the administration.

Looking forward to a good game, on a perfect surface, after the gruelling slog in Batley's mud. I am sure that Ian Millward is aware that Swinton have consistently given Leigh problems, over the years, especially when 'Watto' has been playing for you. Leigh will have also taken note of your performance against Halifax, and will be expecting a tough game.

Well I have to say you certainly gave us a game today and if Morty had had his kicking boots on the score would have been a lot closer. That fool of a ref stifled the game at times and I would like to know the penalty count. You scored some excellent tries today and with the players you have and the type of rugby you are playing I am having a bet tomorrow for you to join us in C1. I was secretly hoping that you may have got a bonus point so it would have really put the preasure on Batley. All the best Lions.

We could have done without spilling the ball as much as we did in the first half but it must have been like a bar of soap as the rain never ceased.

Pleasingly again our heads never went down and you are correct that had Morty had his kicking boots on at one point we could easily have been just one score behind Leigh in the second half.

A strong Leigh team who i would say were better than Halifax and should do ok this season.

Great stadium as well.

Not at all disappointed even in defeat as I feel we will be very competative in Championship 1.Well done to the lads againand a good show from the revitalised Swinton singers.

Not many teams if any will go to Leigh and come away will the points. I think Leigh will be there abouts at the end of the season. Mort kicking today was poor, none were difficult. We have at least 4 goalkickers and on that perfomance he must be the worst. I enjoyed the game and we scored some excellent tries. Now is the time to start playing our best 17 and its upto the remainder to play for a place. The stadium I thought was great and the surface good, not forgetting Blackburn Rovers reserrves play there. Hope the Willows stays in that condition.

I sincerely hope we & Swinton don't meet in C1. I'd much rather they got promoted to the Championship, than we got relegated to Championship 1!!

Well done today lads. Strong Leigh side lead by a fantastic Chris Hill did not blow us away as they might have last season. Great pitch and a nice stadium but...........£2.80 for a 50p M&P pie. What's that all about? It's not Wembley!

Just a shame we couldnt keep hold of the ball for most of the first half particularly when when bringing it away from our own line.Much better in the second half, some top quality tries off some good inventive rugby. Its really evident how much work, time and effort has been done in training.Again Ian Watson was magnificent seems a completely different player this season.

Good game today, just the handling errors that let us down but can't really complain in the conditions. The ref made some odd decisions both ways. One penalty we gave away was for chatting back whilst we had the ball in our own 20, cut that out right away! Mort kicked that hardest conversion and then missed the 4 easier kicks. Nanyn was on form against us yet again. Two tries and his kicking was the difference between the two teams IMO. Good attacking from ourselves, watto was brilliant again. And some good running from the forwards, cunniffe, rigby and Morrison in particular. Also nice to see tommy Gallagher in a Swinton jersey. Oldham got smashed by Halifax, that should make our game with them quite interesting!

Sorry but you know what I was getting at. Will be visiting the willows more than the LSV this year I think. Well done.

Leigh are ready to have a proper go at winning something this season. The LSV is a magnificent achievement and deserves Super League RL, as does the amazingly strong amateur game in Leigh.

Nice from a Swinton perspective to score 5 tries, sad not to take home a bonus point. Possibly 1 game too many against higher ranked opponents after having faced Salford, Barrow and Halifax. The next stage of the competition is probably out of reach, but nevertheless an important game coming up against Oldham. If there is any chance of avoiding the Gateshead game becoming a dead rubber, Oldham will need to be beaten convincingly. (What a wierd pair of results for Gateshead so far by the way!)

Anyone know why Dean Thompson didn't play? He looked the real deal against Fax.

Steve McCormack has a couple of puzzlers regarding who to pick at half back and Martin Ainscough's best position. Perhaps Ian Watson has upped his game in response to the extra competition for places, but some stability at 6 and 7 would be good. Well done to Ian Mort for getting 2 tries - I've high hopes for him scoring many more four pointers if he gets a run of games, but strange that Carl Forber didn't do the goal kicking as he's much more proven in that aspect.

I think SM is still experimenting with positions at the moment, especially between standoff and centres. At one point we had 5 players who can play at three-quarter on the field at the same time. I don't think this was our strongest 17 and to compete with a strong Leigh side does us credit.

All the Leigh fans around me couldn't believe Mort's kicking yesterday, they said he was the best kicker they've had in years. Maybe nerves against his old side? Cant really understand Ainscough not being at 6, when we had good options available in the Centre. But aside from that, top effort from the lads, especially Riggers and Watto.

Think Ainscough was played in the Centre's at Blackpool, can understand, but like you say he has been in sparkling form at 6. bit wasted at centre with the talent he has.

Where was the big lad who played at No2 against Fax. Thought he was one of your best players that night. Was supprised and happy he wasn't playing.

Rob Foxen. Yeh hes defo a first choice winger in my book. Think, as said before, Steve Macs just giving all the players a good run out to suss their best positions, robs already shown what he can do (alot).
