We shouldn't have to call on Chappie to get us out of a mess . We can only play 17, and I expect the NRC will be used to try out different players before the league season.the one good to come out of that shambles is how much we missed chappy, surely hes got to play him now.
Remember Oldham were the second best team behind Hunslet in Championship1 last season, just look at the league table.
BUT --in my opinion our close season recruiting has not brought us the quality players we will need. I estimate that we are about 5 quality players short.

Think Woodcock probably got selected for this game on the back of his performance last season at Whitebank where he destroyed us running down the slope, scattering people. Think from our 3 games at home so far this season we have strengthened and developed a bigger team to cope with those type of tactics.
Hunslet had a lot of possession second half and didn't seem to have enough attacking flair to turn it into points, seemed to rely on the battering rams rather than playing rugby.
March has commented about training facilities, I did think our boys looked fitter than yours today.
Good luck for the season, (when are the March boys actually taking their reffing exams!!), but you will need to play a lot better this season to compete at the higher level.
COME ON OLDHAM!!!! COME ON OLDHAM!!!!!

Does Chappy still have that Perma Tan look?
We have gone backwards from last season, the squad foe me is not as strong as it was last year, i agree we missed chappy, also lowie. I also think we are weaker without Wabo and Mark, Wabos tackling is been missed in the middle of the park, he wouldn't have let them break us up the middle as easy as they did yesterday. We have replaced Mark with Barnett, i afraid at the minute Barnetts not in the same class and has a lot to prove as he has been poor so far. And where is Fox??? we payed Dewsbury a fee for him yet hes not in our 17?? Oldham looked stronger, fitter and quicker than us, im afraid we are going to struggle big time, i just hope Batley dont put 50 on us next week because based on Yesterday its highly likely!

First of all I should say that I didn't get to the match yesterday - I was all set to go at midday but events in the next two hours conspired against me.
However I had bad vibes about this one during the week, those vibes got even worse when I saw the side. The selection problems are not just at hooker but at centre and second row ... not many players broke any pots in the friendlies, but based on what we saw in them Fox, Lowe, Ratcliffe (and Chapman) were all worth a place in yesterday's 17.
It's good to hear Marchy was big enough to come onto the supporter's coach to apologise after the match yesterday. I think we might find out shortly whether he's big enough to drop players who are not performing, for the good of the side overall - even if they're among his 'favourites'.
The Batley match now takes on new importance, NR Cup or not; - both teams got off to a poor start yesterday, and so should both be desperate put things right on Sunday.

Tryscoring won't be a problem for us at momemt in time we looked about two or three weeks behind where we should be amount of handling errors and missed tackles we are making suggests this there's no doubt mark was good for us but if we still had him it would make no difference Pryce was better then him and even though he hant showed it yet Barnetts record suggests he is a better player as wellFor once I AGREE WITH YOU. --- We've lost our points scorers Mark (16 tries last season) now playing in Queensland, McHugh (28 tries,39 goals last season) now banished for an internal offence against the club.--- the players we've brought in are no better than we had last season, and we've gone up a Division. Someone please tell me who is going to score the tries for us?

Wow - some doom and gloom on here today then !!

To be fair the pitch was a great leveller and they played conditions better then us place was a total dump pitch looked like goats had being grazing on it if thats what you get for owning somewhere then renting is the way to go i still think we will go ok when players who were missing come back into side and we get on better pitches from what Marchy said after match i reckon he will have them fired up next week to make amends i don't expect us to win because Batley are a good side just want to see us do basics better like keeping hold of ball if we do that things will go better

one of my fears is that if Roden can open us up what will the likes of Rooney,Finn,Handforth,Thorman do?We,ve got to nullify and stop other teams key playmakers, do that and you are half way there to winning games.
Roden made a couple of good clean breaks, but both were running around prop forwards. Shouldn't we play a man for marking as such in defence or put somebody onto their danger men?
than to open your mouth and prove that you are.
