Sounded like the Ref was awful and that was the main reason Whitehaven lost
Rugby League must be a great game to survive the fools at the RFL who run it.

It is always the case when haven lose, think the game was over in first 20 mins. Haven try right on the final whistle gives the score a healthier look for them.Sounded like the Ref was awful and that was the main reason Whitehaven lost

the ref was bad for both teams, the fact is we knew before we went what the childs is like so when howard hill uses his knees or sicey pulls someone back when they are going for a quick play they are gonna get penalised..anyway town where the better team in my eyes and another win at the wreck happy days

I was driving back home listening to the game with bad reception. However, it was hilarious when Town went 16 nil up and Cox could barely put 2 words together.
Walshy was excellent as always unbiased and to the point.
Cox was moaning continuously about the number of penalties given, especially those to Town. Then when Haven got possession he perked up a bit and was claiming a penalty at every tackle. There is no greater biased commentator than this man.

to be fair the ref was bad,but i would say at least 80% were penalties.havens disapline is dreadful.both sin binnings were justified, and if i was the haven coach, hill would be the last person i would pick,he gives stupid penalties away.yes they outscored us with tries, but we were on top for most of the game.scotty kaighan desperately needs to sort his defence because 2 tries were his fault.does anyone know when holty is available, because we are desperately lacking a kicking game and his guidance.thought stack and matty were excellant for town.but we need to kill games like this off and not get complacent after we start off great.

Well done Town that's 3 in a row. Congratulation to Haven for the bonus point, I'm sure they will all be dlighted with that.
Couldn't believe the amount of penalties getting dished out last night, I thought John Cox was about to have a breakdown, he was even worse than normal, he even had walshy convinced that Haven were being robbed as he was agreeing with most things he said. I sometimes wonder why he doesn't just hand the mic over to the crowd as he his forever quoting their comments and vain appeals for forward pass, knock on, offside etc, etc. At one point they were short of the line and he said with indignation "Well the Kells end thought it was over the line". Well that must be the case then John, what to we need a ref for for christ sake !!! Even the Barrow fans have been slagging him off for last nights display, it's about time he was given the boot.

Got to agree with you mmc, although during the commentary Cox did say he didn't believe in bonus points,I think his words were "Points for getting beat"Well done Town that's 3 in a row. Congratulation to Haven for the bonus point, I'm sure they will all be dlighted with that.

I'm sure at one point John Walsh said that Cox had thrown his mike down!!! MAGIC

He`s absolutely embarrassing isnt he, by all means commentate with a bit of passion but he is so one eyed it takes the ######. The majority of penalties were warranted, the haven players never learnt and kept doing the same thing over and over. That isnt ill discipline, thats stupidity.Well done Town that's 3 in a row. Congratulation to Haven for the bonus point, I'm sure they will all be dlighted with that.

Ah, this thread has brought back memories of last season, tuning into Radio Cumbria for a NRC game at Haven. Batley won comfortably but according to that commentator they knocked on for every try and the penalty count should have been 52-2 in Haven's favour. Can't believe he's still in a job - an embarrassment to broadcasting.

I don't think he would be if everyone who complains about him and his biased commentaries took the time to send an e-mail to Radio Cumbria.
I remember when .............................
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.
