Have read in the press that Mr Jowitt is "actively looking to sign a stand off" as cover for Pat Walker.
Would love to see Paul Cooke at Dewsbury- even playing on a gallon of ale he's a good player. Maybe if we offered him £100 a game and as much beer as he could sup?
Failing that I wouldn't mind us signing Hemingway who's on trial at Fev.

Maybe it will be a loan from wakeys reserves. As patch is only out for 4 weeks can't see us getting a 1st team stand off

Did Hemingway play against our reserve and come up second best a couple of weeks ago?
Patch may be out a bit longer than four weeks. Three broken bones and four screws in hand.

Lets just hope we can get a replacement who is as committed to the job as Patch is.
BTW speedy recovery Patch.

Now we'll see just how much of the stick that young Walker gets he deserves. He may not be a Stand Off in the mould many would prefer to see, but he can make things happen and he makes massive contributions in other areas which will be sorely missed, for example he spent a lot of last season tackling for 2 Half Backs.
Good luck with your recovery Patch, and hurry up back.

I suppose I qualify for being one of those who woulf prefer a trditional style stand off, who might struggle to tackle the opposition props, but has the pace to at least lay a hand on his opposite number - something patch has had problems with in the past. Don't think anyone has questioned his ability - just his effectiveness at stand off. He could just as easily make things happen at loose forward, which would be his best position IMO,and would give him a bit more time to create things. In the recent past, some SL teams have gone down the path of picking creative ball handling forwards at stand off, where their lack of pace was badly exposed (Sinfield, farrell, sculthorpe spring to mind), an experiment swiftly discontinued. Having said all that, I wish the lad a speedy recovery, and time will tell how much we miss him.Now we'll see just how much of the stick that young Walker gets he deserves. I'm not sure about this coming season, but last season the stand off and loose forward had the same role, just on different sides of the pitch.

i actualy did notice that when ed barber joined us at the end of lastseason it got the best out of patch and the team looked very dangerous because we had 3 footballers in the side,we also had a very quick and lively hooker in luke blake.i actualy think wer more of a summer rugby type of team we have bags off pace in the backs.

Theres a couple of youngsters at Bradford in the half backs - Danny Addy and Cain Southernwood who I can't really see getting any game time in the near future with the squad thats been put together there, would be a good step up for one of those guys to come in and show what they can do.
I know you had Addy a bit last season but he was recalled due to injuries

I reckon Cain Southernwood will be one of the young players of the year in the Super League this forthcoming season.
You need a stand off to take some of the pressure from Brambani from what I have seen (not that much mind you)

So what you're saying GOR is that you appreciate Patch's qualities and think they would have been even better employed at loose forward? In other words this is a coaching and recruitment deficiency rather than one of the individual player.
If so then I agree with you. WJ is an extremely hardworking and dedicated coach, of this there is no doubt. I sometimes think he could do with some help on the tactical and structural front however if our style of play and effectiveness is to improve further.
Believe what you see, don't see what you believe.

I agree WG could do with a mentor type old hand around the coaching staff. At the moment the Dewsbury assistant coaching staff seam to have lack of experience at coaching at any other level than junior rugby. What are they gonna brlng to WG. And even maybe be just be yes men!!!
