Soundly beaten by the current Championships.

Swinton must be favourites for Championship one, they have scored 22 points against two Championship teams.

Swinton next week will be the real test in my opinion

Fax were simply different class, their halves Jones and Black took us apart.

We didn't help ourselves, discipline was poor and we gave away a lot of penalties in the tackle. Also far too many mistakes and lost ball, yes conditions were difficult but Fax coped better than we did.

After very good defence last week, we got caught far too many times where the markers didn't work hard enough and their dummy half (Penky in particular) made big yards. Goal line defence also let us down 2 or 3 tries scored from first man running hard close to the line. Second half defensively we were poor, we got blitzed at start of second half.

Our halves really struggled to create anything against a well organised defence. Having seen that performance, maybe we do need to give Matty Ashe a game until we solve our halves problem (possibly with Dallimore, who looked good in reserves, once he has had a few more run-outs).

We also missed the go forward that Tom Wood-Hulme gives us today, has to be back in for next week. Also we need to see Ben Wood nearer the action in the second row, he's a handful and makes good yards, but not sure about other centre options at present, although possibly Brocky if available.

Fax should have been down to twelve early in the second half as Barlow hit Valu with a shocker after the ball had gone and the ref bottled it and put it on report. Valu got up and walked away eventually rather than go on stretcher, wanted to carry on but doctor sent him to the sideline, looked like a possible concussion.

Lucas took his two tries well, enjoyed the second where he ran 70 metres and outpaced the Fax cover.

Lets hope for a better performance next week against Swinton.

Hmm. strange game and performance. Fax were the better team and dominated the game but I don't think the scoreline reflected the effort we put into the game. The crazy ten mins after half time where we conceded 18 points killed the game. They are clearly a very good side and will put a lot of teams to the sword.

Individually I thought our whole right hand side went really well. Isherwood ran the ball in really strongly in attack but struggled to contain Black when he was running on his outside shoulder. Ben Wood was super in all areas and kept Patterson very quiet. Lucas scored two good tries, the second being a peach where Diveney picked the ball of his toes on our line went down field M and shifted the ball out wide to Lucas who sped down the touchline outpacing White and Worrincy. I thought Diveney had a another good game and outperformed Ratty who struggled with ball in hand.

I'm a big TB fan but I don't think he had the best day especially in regards to his treatment of Ben Heaton. It was pretty clear 5 mins before kick off he wasn't fit and we shouldn't have risked him. He actually played pretty decently but if he had aggravated his groin even further we could struggle with St Hilaire not playing yet and Brocky still playing union.

Next weeks game should be a great game. Swinton have started out great and will obviously be right up there for the league it will be a great test to show how we are doing.

We were outclassed by a quality side who will take some stopping this season, i wish them all the best in the quest for super league although ultimately i fear they will fail when a bid from the east midlands, Dublin, Edinburgh or Azerbaijan from any two bit chancer comes in.
For several different reasons it was my first game of the year, i thought our line defence was very poor and more worryingly for me the discipline was awful it was always going to be a difficult game but we don't help ourself with so many silly technical penalties none of which really we done to try and slow the game down in my opinion.

Granted the ref was the usual incompetent inconsistent rubbish we come to expect and he totally bottled the only bad tackle in the game, I cannot figure out the reporting system, if a ref and linesman see the offence and know the culprit and give a penalty how can it then be put on report?? Surely the system is in place for incident that none of the officials see?

I did think we looked fairly lively with ball in hand and scored two great tries by lucas and the most positive aspect is that we wont come up against a quality side like that again much this season.

On a positive note. I spoke with two Fax fans after the game, who, independantly said what a good game young Diveney had. I think they were quite surprised to hear how few first team games he's had, and were very much of the opinion that when our pack gets on top, as I'm sure it will in many games this season, he will prove to be a real asset.

I had Diveney as our MOTM. Set up both tries for Lucas and kicked a beauty off the touchline. He tackles very well but also reads the game well which is where I think Ashey really struggles in defence as his contact in defence is usually pretty good. He definitely outperformed Ratty who Fax targeted on our left side and with Heaton on one leg he had no options to pass to if Fax moved up quickly on Noone.
