Sounds like a really tight game today, but we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory right at the death. Final score Hunslet 8 Batley 12.

without being disrespectful that was the worst Batley performance for a long long time....Hunslet poor as a good team would have killed us by half time. We cant play that bad and win against a decent team.

Dreadful weather, dreadful game, dreadful place to watch professional sport.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

A game of two halves, Hunslet defended brilliant in the 1st half and Batley defended brilliant in the second half.

Why's that then? You get one of the best views in Rugby League at South Leeds, not like Don Valley where you are miles away from the pitch and are too low down. Or are you just trying to be controversial?

Well it's undeniably better than the Don Valley, but then again, where isn't. On the ground, I would just be a little worried by the lack of potential capacity. Personally, being a man with a 'fuller figure' I hate the turnstiles, as I have a pathological fear of getting trapped in one.

One thing about being sat in the stands meant it was really hard to see how bad the conditions were, as at half time, when I went for my cup of tea it was chucking it down. I guess it was tough out on the field.

As for the match, it was a poor affair for attacking football, with defences clearly on top. I thought our defence was okay, and really thought we were the better side, but not by all that much. Two things stood out for me, as far as Hunslet were concerned, their lack of pace and fitness.

I don't think we gave away many stupid pens, It was more of a case where the Ref wanted to be the centre of attention, we get penalised for dragging someone into touch but was ok when batley did it, we got penalised for ripping the ball out when it was a one on one tackle & the last penalty 2 mins from time any different to what Batley was doing during the match aswell as Hunslet so why did that result in a penalty? This then cost us the game. Also the ref blew the whistle for the game when the it hadn't finished, the full back wasn't tackled and was laying on the floor, Hunslet could of potentially ripped it off him & scored.

Overall i feel we didn't score enough points in first half with wind behind our backs, we scored a try with a piece of magic from Lowe which isn't bad for a fat man who doesn't deserve to be playing in the team and no good according to some people. We also bombed a chance from a chapman pass with the centre knocking on over the line which might of just been enough for us to win

yep think fitness is the key & we are a million miles from it.Cant see us doing very well this season but if capacity needs to be 3000 next season then there is no point. If we manage to survive but then get booted out for not having the capacity then that will be the end for us.As could be seen this weekend in Cardiff rugby league is a pale shadow for attendances compared to rugby union even though in my opinion its a more entertaining game.

That was the turning point of the game. If you'd have gone 14-0 up the way we were playing, it would have been game over. Credit to Batley, they dug in, but it was an ugly, ugly win and a horrifically poor ref.

The weather killed it yet again, it was just a war of attrition on that pitch, we should have gone for goal in the 1st half and clayton bombing that walk in when the ball bounced into his hands from a yard out was unreal.it was pretty obvious the little chip over the top was the only real danger and we fell for it when batley exploited it for their try, the only real time they broke us to be honest.after that i felt it was only a matter of time before we would give a daft penalty away to get batley downfield and set them up for the winner, and so it proved.a draw would have been a fair result imo nothing between 2 average teams today.

Need to identify a first choice 13 and sort out the over use of the ad-lib style of attacking play. We haven't got enough quality to do it against better opposition this year!

Team philosophy was summed up for me today when Elliot Kear who had had a superb debut and clearly looked a persistent threat was pushed onto the wing to allow Haughey to come into the centre instead of just making a direct swap for Mr. Mediocrity himself, Dave Clayton.

Thought this was the best defensive work we have done consistently over the whole 80 mins. Or was it nearer 90 mins today. Unlike some of the other comments up here I enjoyed the game, as I could see the improvements. But what do I know?

To be honest I don't think anyone looked good today. As I said previously, I think Hunslet looked really short of pace and very unfit. We all see the match differently due to our loyalties, but Hunslet never looked like scoring in the second half, and we only looked as if we might when Moore got involved in the game.
