Jamie came to Hemel as a sixteen year old and after growing up playing rugby union he has spent the past two and half seasons playing rugby league in the first team at Hemel. Stags boss Troy Perkins commented " This is great news for Jamie and great news for the club to see a local player get an opportunity at one of the biggest rugby league clubs in the world. Jamie is a great kid and has worked hard over the past couple of seasons and has been an asset to our team. He has improved every season and was influential in last seasons successful RLCN campaign. He is a quality player and I am sure that Wigans coaching staff can improve him to Superleague standard in the next couple of years. As a club we are proud of Jamie's achievement in being offered a contract and that is also recognition to our coaching structures and all the people that have played a part in his development including his team mates ".
Hemel Stags now have two players that have recently signed professional contracts with Dan Sarginson having signed a long term deal at Harlequins and been given a 2011 first team squad number at the age of seventeen.
