Sounded like we failed to complete a full set, we kept dropping the ball on first or second tackle. I didn't expect to win this one but I was hoping to run them close.

It was good to hear some good unbiased commentary on RC today, I thought Paul Crarey was an excellent co-commentator with Walshy. I just wish Walshy wouldn't get so excited when the opposition score, doe's he not realize your suppose to moan about it, ie forward pass, didn't ground it, etc etc a la John Cox

I thought Paul Crarey was making to many excuses for Town today, "there in a higher division" " the ref isnt the best" "this isnt Towns level".

I never let myself get carried away with the 2 wins over Whitehaven and Gateshead(although i was buzzin)and didnt expect us to win today but also didnt see us gettin beat 30-0....its the 0 that makes it more dissapointing.
It is the Northen Rail Cup and they are sorta warm up games for the league...So lets keep our chins up and stay behind the lads.

looking forward to next weeks game...
Up The Town!

PS..Your right Walshy does get to excited at times i thought we had scored!! <_<

I can see some merit in what Charlo said about giving all our players a chance to show what they are capable of as it was never likely that we would be reaching the finals of the NR Cup. Having said that I think the last thing we want is another big defeat next week against Leigh or confidence will be low for the following week when we go to Rochdale in the cup. That match is the most important as a win will put us in with a chance of a tie with a SL club.

They said at the start of today's match that some changes were forced on us through a virus and in the second half the coaches boxed clever and kept Matty's appearance to the minimum. Lets hope that next week we have something like our strongest team together in preparation for the Rochdale match.
I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

I was at the game and was extremely disappointed with Town's performance. Our coaches said a week or two ago that they were to take the Northern Rail competition seriously, then why change a winning combination? Other players could surely be fitted in as and when.I was of the opinion that the friendlies were for try out various combinations. In the first half we seemed to kick everytime we had the ball in hand and anywhere on the field would do. If kicking is to be the ploy then let the kicks be accurate and with some purpose. We seemed to be giving the opposition the ball to play with some of the kicks. Arnie.

I agree with you Arnie but when they read the team out on the radio Walshy did say that Carter was injured, and others had a virus (I forget who he mentioned) plus they wanted to give Finch a run-out, so I think most of the changes were forced on them. It is disappointing to score 82 points to nil conceded one week and then conceed 30 without being able to score the next week and that is why I said before that we need to put out our best 17 next week and the week after.

So were we. Sounds like the conditions were poor for the game, also why did your lot bring the touchlines in for this game? You cant have been worried about our pace with Gus on the wing....

The touchlines weren't brought in for this game the pitch has been this size since 2008.
