Fryston surprisingly put out Dudley Hill 16-12 today to set up 3rd Round date at the Mount.

great stuff, they must have something about them and to consider they aren't even a conference side (Yorkshire premier division.

Bring it on and maybe this year could be the illustrious dream tie of pulling in the SL regional elite.

Why suprisingly Mark, serious question, surely not based on the fact they dont play in the National Conference, bear in mind the best amateur side in the country by a massive margin a few years ago only played in the Cumbrian League (Wath Brow)

The National Conference League isnt what all clubs aspire to

I am by no means saying that residence in the National Conference is a condition of being a quality side but the traditional question of whom is the better club- 'one which regularly tops a regional division or one that succeeds in the national conference'.

You would agree that conference clubs need to have more impressive facilities, good foundations and have stronger managements to regional clubs?

This time next year the for example the Yorkshire League will be even weaker and have even fewer members:

(2011 season)
Yorkshire League: 3 divisions, 34 teams
Pennine League: 9 divisions 89 teams

Basically, because people who know a LOT more about RL than I do rank Dudley Hill higher.

The weakness of the Yorkshire League has absolutly nothing to do with the question i raised, 1 out of 10 for reading my post but not understanding it.

i also go the wrong 'Mark' in question Coyley!

how can the weakness of the Yorkshire league not be considered when comparisons are made to the conference.

NWC, Yorks or Pennine house excellent sides at top tiers no doubt.

Again Fryston have done really well at reaching the round and i'm looking forward to the game V Batley.

I can understand that Mark, however ive watched both sides regularly and it was no shock result as far as myself and Fryston supporters were concerned, theyre riding on the crest of a wave at the moment and are currently unbeaten this season so not really a suprise.

Fryston have got a load of ex pros in there ranks including Gareth Handford, Andy Speake and Mark Castle as well as some good amateur players who've been round the Cas clubs in recent years. A few of em played at Shaw Cross with me 3 years ago. Expect a physical game, always tasty against Cas teams

Its embarrassing how bad the Yorkshire League set up has got, The Yorkshire Cup which is run b the Yorkshire League used to be a prestigous cup to be in, now its considered as a nothing cup. One of the semi finalists recently gave there game to opponents. I would never want to be involved in a side that did that.. Where as the Pennine League is growing and growing and clubs are queueing to join it

didn't the bulldogs once have a look at Andy Speake and i can vaguely remember Gareth Handford as a big Donny Prop?

Let the challenge cup run begin....

Yes mate, Gareth is a huge unit, goes well for a big lad. Speake is a quality player, was at Wakey 2nd team for a while then went to Donny.

Mark Castle would actually be a great signing for us, as he was extremely highly-rated when at Doncaster and then Leigh a few seasons back. No idea what he's doing playing at such a low level. Hoefully he'll have a good game against us on Sunday and KH takes a look at him. We could definitely do with another big prop given Robinson's injury.
As for Gareth Handford, I expect he's somewhere near the 30 stone mark these days. I hope his expanded bingo-wings have now rendered his arms too heavy to be able to swing at players heads, like he so frequently used to do whilst starring for Singe's filth brigade.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

i think fryston will be a challenge made up of ex u21s of both batley and dewsbury also doncaster and castleford. i went to watch them against dudley hill there best players were andy speake mark castle also steven scott and handford who trys to bully players but they will us a run for our money unbeaten and touching 60 a game in the yorkshire league also beat queens and hunslet warriors last season, i know it will be a tough task for our own paddy hesketh playing against his two best pals in scott and castle.
