If you dont want to watch the Man Utd match tonight (Weds) you could always watch the University Rugby League Grand Final at 7.30pp on Channel 433 between Loughborough Uni and Leeds Metropolitan. Some of these games have been pretty good viewing.

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

Might give this a bash, quite enjoyed the Varsity games over the past few years. Apparently these 2 teams tonight are the 2 best in the student game.

Leeds Metropolitan are still in the Challenge Cup and are drawn away to Sheffield.

Cumbrian lad Adam Ramsdan was the Leeds Met number 11, he played for Distington at the weekend against the Brow A team, think he played last season for Haven Res.

I thought it was a cracking match played hard and fair by both teams. The referee - T Roby - let the game flow more than he would have in the Championships. I thought the stand out players were the two number 9's - Horton of Leeds and Walmsley of Loughborough, as well as Leeds number 7, Scott and his namesake, Sam Scott, number 11 for Loughborough, who John Kear mentioned is on the Wildcats books. Sam Scott reminded me very much of our own Jarrad Stack the way he run and attacked the opposition. For the record the Leeds Met won in the very last second, 14 - 12.
