Several times in the past few seasons the mount has been inundated with junior sports clubs fund-raising with bucket collections. These adorable sportsmen/women usually adorn their clubs colours and enthusiastically shake their tools of money collection.
Great idea one would think and its lovely to see the young un's enjoying their game and being proactive....
Why or why do the little clubs feel the need to spread themselves geographically though. I would gladly give a quid to all of the junior footie/ rugby clubs in the Batley area. Clubs from Thornhill, Ossett, Earlsheaton, Morley, Cleckheaton etc- need to go to the nearest stadia.
Then there's supermarkets..... Why would i hand over brass to young kids from Chickenley in Batley Tesco's!!!

take a look closer to home then, do you think Batley should only try to raise funds within the boundry of the town itself, if you do then half the Lottery members wouldnt be giving their hard earned money to the club, do you honestly think it was money from the good old folk of Batleys deep pockets that paid for all the improvements over the last 10 years, was it hell, it was grants, sports match etc, etc.
Batley find money where they can and have had to spread the "net" far and wide in order to survive so why shouldnt junior clubs do exactly the same.
I bet your own Stainland Stags dont stick to Stainland do they.

I take it all your players come from within the Batley boundary?

Mr Coyle i am simply begrudging the fact that having a bucket rattled under your nose from a club seemingly out of the Batley area is a little rich.
I am all for fund raising and entities being pro active to ensure their futures.
I would sooner give 5£ each to batley ladies arlfc, Howden Clough junior football and Batley Boys U8's over Ossett draughts society, Chickenley cycle club and saville town majorettes!

But just not from you eh, remind me of that the next time my youngest comes home from school with sponsorship forms for his school which is in Dewsbury and his football club in Liversedge, ill just tell him to f off shall i.I am all for fund raising and entities being pro active to ensure their futures.
If the sound of rattling buckets annoys you then simply dont put anything in, one can only assume you dont have kids of your own, and probably never will because if you were a parent and your kids attended any sports or social club you would realise they survive off charity, they survive because clubs like Batley allow them to rattle their begging buckets under your nose on matchdays
Sheesh, you really are Batleys very own Townie.

By heck baldy it really is pmt time in the coyle household?
You would support your 'own' to the last penny obviously and if my 4 year old lass wanted to be a cheerleader for the Rams I'd stump up the brass, like wise if my newborn Lad was to grow up and play kick/clap for Morley RU!
charity begins at home and local areas should be canvased by local teams!
my humble opinion Gary nothing more,
R.E 'townie'- wow: you'd know all about back stabbing, allegiance forming and throwing stones from glass houses wouldn't you t'old lad?!
