Couldn't workout today's game plan, two good centres and yet we never moved the ball wide, we simply went done the middle all game.
A really poor game to watch both sides were average at best but the Cougars deserved more from the game as they were the better side for large chunks of what was a very forgettable encounter.
Young Lynch went well at fullback, Davies and Jones ran strong for the side and Straugheir was my mom played really well scoring two and running the ball in strong and sound in defence.
Not great watching but it's a win, we lacked flair today maybe it was the game plan just to get back to basics after last weeks horror show at London, if that was the case, then we still have a long way to go as we were second best up front.
A lot to think about, we will have to play a whole lot better come the season start than we've shown in the last few weeks or we are going to struggle.
The tight pitch, width-wise, at the HS, when coupled with a ref who thinks that five metres is acceptable for the defence at the play the ball is always going to make for a scruffy game.
Was impressed by Rick Barr ( 20 ) for the Cougars up front and Jermaine was his usual box of tricks. Thought Paul Drake settled into the game for them and came alive once Ezo got binned ( he seemed lucky it wasn't red from my seat ).
Mention to Jack Stearman who worked as hard as ever and thought Nathan Massey was as good as anyone. Struff looked good and his second try was a tribute to his dancing skills !!
Felt sorry for Jord Thompson as he simply didnt see any ball - be a different story at SLS, with it's wide open spaces, I suspect.
DW said that there were no serious knocks but seemed non plussed at the lack of cohesive and penetrative rugby from the pivots.
Loved the second Elvis try, great break from Little Jack and stunning pass out of the back door from Ezo and we proved that we can move the ball at speed with the winning try. Good pressure from CT forced the error and then some incisive attacking was just too much for the Cougars defence.
Would have thought that, given the players he rested and the injury to Gav Duffy, that JD would be pretty pleased with the Keighley display.
Fancied the Hawks to win at Sheffield today and, apparently, Grimmer won them the game with a belting try.
