Magic Round - Hainault ???
Just been on Hainaults site to see what this is and they show that they are playing at St Albans on 18th June. Anyone know what this 'magic round' consists of?.

Looks like Skolars and Portsmouth have gone then, and surely when you are left with a six team league, three games each would have been better as a 15 game season as opposed to a 'play some teams twice and others three times' 13 week one.

I've only been watching amateur RL down south for the last 12 months or so - is it always like this?

Portsmouth are dropping to the London & South division. I think instead of Skolars running reserves there will be a Haringey Hornets side again. I assume they're London League but I guess they could be East as that hasn't declared it's lineup yet.

Personally I think the smaller Premier is good as last year Skolars A and Portsmouth struggled even to get a team out, but these 6 should mean for a competitive league.

160+ viewings and no one seems to know what the 'Magic Weekend' is, or where its taking place.
Anyone out there with that info? Cheers.

The things I do for you people. Just had a chat with one of the lads from St Albans. Apparently the RFL want to have a magic weekend in the RLC just like they do in Superleague, where all the teams/supporters can come together and celebrate this great game, by all the teams playing their weekly fixture at one venue. They have decided on the date, and have asked the clubs in the league who want to hold this event to submit applications by a certain date. They will then decide which club will hold the event. Wherever the event is held, it will still count as a home or away game as per the fixture list. I suppose it is date known, (18th June) venue TBA.

Cheers, Any idea if Cents are putting in a bid?

Yes, Cents and two other clubs (don't know who) have put a bid in.
Hopefully our two full sized pitches, 12 changing rooms and rugby league clubhouse (ie not paying bar takings to a union club) will carry a bit of clout when the powers that be come to make a decision.

Fingers crossed.

How do the Cents facilities stack up to the rest of the league? Not been to any away matches

Brooza, from last year -
London Skolars - Unless there is a Champ 2 game on, everything is closed, there are no facitlites other that a drinks machine and toilets. The pitch is in the park opposite and the nearest pub is about half a mile away.
Portsmouth - when we played them we drove the 100+ miles there in a coach, the lads got changed, played the game, had a shower. The sports pavillion and the facilities were closed. Portsmouth went home. No meal, no cuppa, nothing. We ended up going to Tescos. Pitch is typical park pitch.
West London - they play at Grasshoppers RU ground (not on the main pitches though). Very nice clubhouse, bar and facilities.
South London Storm - Haven't been to their new ground yet.
Hainault - also a club with a new ground and their own clubhouse. Haven't been there yet.
Eastern Rhinos - Play at a Colchester RU club. Bar and facilities are good.
Hammersmith HH - play at Wasps RU training ground. Pitch adequate, small bar.
St Albans - based in the gulf stream, St Albans basks in a semi-tropical climate. It only rains 5 days a year and the grass is super soft. The bar has an endless supply of beer and it is served by semi naked, nubile young maidens.
Seems we have a winner

Souths' pitch is top of the range artificial. Bouncy and soft even in the heat. Plenty of width, but not too long for those broader gentlemen of our game. Changing rooms lack that "Auschwitz chic" of the old Streatham-Croydon ground, but make up for that lack of atmosphere by also lacking rats and cockroaches.

There isn't a clubhouse, as it's a school, and the nearest establishment selling goods is a petrol station a hundred yards away. We're going to have to work on matchday refreshments at the ground.

Some fixtures seem to be getting released little by little. Any idea when the full lists for all areas will be out? Buffs had said the end of Feb but clearly that's not happened.

The RLCN fixtures are on the RLC web site now, I think they were released last week, but they may be subject to change if the rumours about Gateshead are true.

Will South London be playing their fixtures on that pitch?.

Chesham Stags RU have a decent-ish clubhouse right in the heart of the secondary school whose pitches they share. It's very odd but it's a proper bar. So it can be done!
Cheer up, RL is actually rather good

I bet there's a fair few pupils go in! Then again the pub across the road from us at school often had pupils and teachers both skiving off in there, usually during the end of term service or something
