Hornets were very strong in the second half managing to hold Town scoreless although they gave them more than enough ball with poor handling and penalties. At half time it was difficult to see us being interested in the draw for the next round but the lads did themselves proud and turned it round very well.
Please, please, please, Wigan at Spotland!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think if the try just before the break had been allowed it would have made a big difference and also the one in the second half when the ref gave us a penalty for ball stripping when one of our players had already picked it up and dived over the line. Whatever happened to the advantage rule?
Because of our very weak performance in the second half we deserved what we got so best of luck to Hornets in the draw for the next round.
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.
