Quite a comfortable win to be honest! I expected it to be much closer. I also heard somewhere that it was on the 20th, which seems a long way off. Oh well, lets hope for a decent draw.

As the 4th round isn't until May 11th then the 20th is probably right.
With a scoreline like that I'm glad i didn't go. In fact there were very few competitive games in this round altogether.
Now next Sunday, that's a different matter altogether.

Only Oldham and Hunslet Warriors seemed close. Oldham just got their noses in front with 10 mins left. Workington were 20-4 up at Rochdale and lost 22-20. Draw is Sunday 20 March.
To score 62 points away from home is pretty good, especially as SWS are a pro club. Nice to see Keighley get through against Toulouse and London Skolars look as though they are in for a good season. But Cumbria seems to be in the doldrums, Haven and Worky both out.
Lets hope next week is a great game to watch and we come out on top. We seem to have plenty of confidence at the moment and a lot of the squad have had plenty of game time. Our pack is going to take some matching this season, all hard working and tough cookies. In turn it should give the backs a good platform. Barring injuries I think we will all be pleasantly surprised this season.

....and some shocking gates too. It would seem that the Challenge Cup is losing it's attraction very quickly, just like the FA cup in kick-ball.
Shame, a real shame; I remember some memorable cup games from the past.

My earliest memories BSJ were 1973 when we played Wakefield and their star studded line up a Crown Flatt and won and then onto Headingley. I think the gate at Crown Flatt that day was recorded at approx 15,500 but we all know there were many more. I always had a genuine hatred of Bernard Watson for stiff arming Nigel in the semi but had we have played to our true potential on the day we would have taken our place at Wembley. If you speak to Stevo about that day, Nigel does not come out as being very popular in Stevo's eyes. 1974 was an excellent cup run as well but I didn't expect to beat Warrington at Wigan. My late father used to reminisce about 1967 and being robbed in the semi but I wasn't party to that one, maybe you were, what actually happened?

young un, that was the day at station road in 1967 against barrow when a dewsbury female spectator attacked the referee with her brolly....he was bad. in my opinion dewsbury never turned up against bradford in 1973, and in 1974 warrington had one hell of a team.
that quarter final against wakefield had a fantastic atmosphere. my memory of that day was watching all the wakefield skinheads walking up bywell road to the match.
happy days

The gap between pro clubs and part time clubs like ours are getting bigger every year, people won't pay good money to watch one sided games, even when clubs are giving tickets away as part of our season tickets, which is a great shame.Even when the big boys come in the next round, the gates won't be any better, don't know what can be done to change the situation, when i was younger, the c-cup was a big thing for all clubs and fans, and that was only in the 1980's....and some shocking gates too. It would seem that the Challenge Cup is losing it's attraction very quickly, just like the FA cup in kick-ball.

It was 2 years earlier in the St Helens semi that Minnie Cotton charged on to the field brandishing her umbrella, but she was a Saints supporter, not Dewsbury, and her intended victim wasn't the ref but Dick Lowe, who caught the swinging brolly and snapped it in half.young un, that was the day at station road in 1967 against barrow when a dewsbury female spectator attacked the referee with her brolly....he was bad. in my opinion dewsbury never turned up against bradford in 1973, and in 1974 warrington had one hell of a team.

You might say it was Minnie's 10 minutes of fame.

Saw it on telly and was hooked from thereon, switching allegiance from a good trinity side containing the likes of Neil Fox. What a rollercoaster it's been since thenIt was 2 years earlier in the St Helens semi that Minnie Cotton charged on to the field brandishing her umbrella, but she was a Saints supporter, not Dewsbury, and her intended victim wasn't the ref but Dick Lowe, who caught the swinging brolly and snapped it in half.

To beat a div 1 side by over 60 points takes some doing, and Warren still wasn,t happy about some aspects of our performance. My only concern is why a former SL winger still hasn't got a try after eight games. Let's hope he is saving himself for the league ehQuite a comfortable win to be honest! I got a ticket with a seat number for that game. The trouble was thst the stand was so packed that I had to sit on the top step!
It was great to beat a full Trinity side.

The year was 1966 at Swinton and the lady brandished her brolly at Trevor "Tank" Walker and he snapped it over his bent knee.

I remember Trevor Walker was involved, but I thought it was him who gently restrained the lady. I agree I was wrong about it being 2 years earlier.
Do you remember Geoff Marsh opening the try scoring? What a feeling it was to be in front in a match like that. Most of the fondest memories are of winning but there are a few games that, even though we ended on the losing side, I would happily watch again. That was one of them.
BSJ put a picture of the incident on here a while ago. I wonder if he still has it.

Do you mean this one?
I was too young for RL in '66.
Actually I hadn't been introduced to the delights of Dewsbury RLFC by then, which came many years later. No-one can accuse me of being a glory-hunter I can tell you!!

I don't recall who scored the opening try, but I know I savoured the moment of being in front in a semi-final.
Reflecting - that lady could have been heading for Dick Lowe, but Tank certainly bent the btolly. Rumour had it that she was the Saints prop John Mantle's landlady.
