Last sundays game at Rochdale was the third time this season that we have started like a house on fire then let a big lead slip. What is the problem ? are we not fit ? or is it just the mental attitude of the players not being able to stick to the game plan and see it through to the end ? What do you all think ?

I'm not sure it's fitness I personally think complacency creeps in.let's be honest it's not just this season,it's been a problem with town for well over a year now.look at York last season,Blackpool in the playoffs, and a number of other times.on Sunday we should of came out strong second half and killed the game.I think were seriously lacking a proper leader to calm us down and get the basics right,I'm sure holt will help in this area.is he back at swinton?were a top team, let's hope we start playing like one, and killing the mediocre teams off

At half-time on Sunday when talking to another couple of Town fans I said just watch if we don't let them back in to this game. The week before Rochdale were 22 - 0 up on Doncaster who came back and beat them 30 - 26, so they knew that it could be done. Knowing how we have given points away easily when in front (look at the two Haven matches this season) I said we needed to score first to win.
As it happened our tackling was weak at the best and woeful or non-existant from some. Rochdale got on the front foot and we didn't know how to cope with it. We went from a team looking good and capable of inflicting a big score defeat on them to a mediocre outfit in the space of the half-time break. We do need a leader as I think Mike Whitehead is too quiet on the field and hopefully Holty will be back soon to give us some direction.

I remember when .............................
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

Listening to the commentary on Sunday it sounded like we were'nt building any pressure on their line by failing to get any repeat sets. I would hope with Holty's superb kicking game and his deft touches, we just might put this right.
