Get the NFL onside.

Yep, it's Dennis Justice again, with his modified rules. Interesting idea, but I doubt it'd happen.

"Perhaps it would be better that future criticism of sports be made on the narrow basis of what is being discussed, without reference to other sports, unless those sports offer a solution to the problem in hand." - Brian 'Pigface' Moore

"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes

Maybe nines would work on gridiron fields? That way we aren't creating yet another bloody code but utilising what we already have to access resources stateside.

Predictions for the future -
Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG
Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT
Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG
Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

I promise to pay 10 to the charity of Bomb Jacks choice if Widnes Millionaires finish above the battling underdogs Crusaders RL. I OWE A TENNER!

Has someonme just posted a response to the Union blokes comments? Loved it!

As for the idea, not a bad one really and something League personalities within the US should actually float to the NFL hierarchy. Where's Russell Crowe when you need him?

Already read that...some decent ideas but three governing bodies in the US with two different rule books ???
Though if the NFL did get involved you can be sure it would be a massive boost to the game.

Same as you though can't see it happening.

This is actually a new twist on an old idea, the new twist being the 11-a-side idea. Mike Mayer had the idea of getting the NFL to take on RL as a spring & summer game years ago, the whole point of his Milwaukee exhibition game was to demonstrate the game's appeal but the powers in the game were too short-sighted to get behind it.

I like that idea. Have college kids playing RL 9s on their college/school (Gridiron) 'football fields' during their College Football 'off season'/holidays (?) in USARL States? Guess it could work?

Although that 'Gridiron RL' idea is incredibly stupid. Even more so trying to play it in 70,000+ seaters American Football stadia.
