I'm backing Salford, they are on the up and Leeds are on the down, (form wise not season long). Too many injuries in the forwards for Leeds IMHO.

Could be the shock of the week for some, but I can see Salford doing a job and grinding out a hard fought win.

Not many points in this one, 18 -20 and expect some calls for the coaches head from some quarters at the end of this. Plus the usual {refwatch}.
Super League the only place in the world where people still believe that less competitors and a closed market to new competition will improve the quality of the product.

Even the Chinese and the Cubans gave up on these marxist principles years ago.

SL with a reduced number of competitors and a closed market = North Korea.

I think I'm going to go with you on this.
If we do sneak a win it will be exactly that, a sneak.
I reckon it's Salfords to loose. Their pack should easily out muscle ours.

I'm off to this game tonight on a freebie so I'll report back with how the three course meal went down in the Carnegie stand.

In other news I'll be feel very privileged at 19:55 when Leeds finally turn on the new big screen  .

If time allows I'll try meet up with Harrigan for a pre-match/after-match pint.

Salford by 6 tonight for the same reasons as bewareshadows has posted.

As a Leeds supporter that is pretty bad reading. Still, it's a chance for some of the youngsters to show their worth. Every cloud and all that. Be carefull of the roast spuds!

Well done Leeds, a good effort to overcome in adversity.

I guess we are the 'shock' defeat of the night.

Leeds look like they did amazing considering the players they had missing, was it down to Leeds being good or Salford being poor? Also the average age of the Leeds bench is only 19 years so a great effort from those lads.

He looked very good. Put some tackles in and every time he took the ball up he didnt check his run, winning the collision against bigger men nearly every time.

Buderus played but the rest were missing, plus we lost Ben Jones-Bishop in the build up to thier 1st try so we had Ablett playing centre for 70 minutes. As for the game, I have never seen Sinfield play as well for Leeds. He must have had a hand (or foot) in 5 or 6 of our 8 tries. He touched the ball about 3 times a set and never tired. His longest pass (apart from 1 for the Watkins try) was no more than 5 yards and never threw a bad one. For anyone who watched the Bris-NQL game this morning it was similar to how Thurston played. I appreciate the opposition class was slightly different but still, he controlled the game from start to finish. Watkins made 2 amazing try saving tackles. One where he got under the Wakey player 1 on 1 and held him up. The 2nd he chased Ratchford back 50 metres after he made a break and stripped the ball from behind a metre out.

Salford did tire quite badly in the last 15 (which was surprising as we had almost a team missing) and we started to find holes in their left hand defence almost every time we had the ball. They played well 1st half and matched us for the majority but in the 2nd we ran away with it.

On another note our new Big HD Screen was "switched on" tonight. It was strange getting to see replays of the tries or any good bit of skill during a non televised game. All it's missing is a clock because the majority of the South Stand cant see the official game time because its at the top of the Carnegie Stand.

good preformance overall by leeds . i was glad to see mcshane on the bench so that they could spell buderus and leeds went back to basics in there own 40 and stopped the stupid passes.

the new video screen was good . a decent size and the picture quality is far better than the one that sky use. good to see replays of the trys while sir kevin was teeing up the goal kicks although there could be problems at times as a couple of leeds tries looked a bit iffy on replay.
it was good to have a french ref as a decent rendition of rule britania was a nice touch by the southstand when a decision went against us.

From the commentary/press area at the back of the main stand you can't see the countdown clock that's high up at the back of the Carnegie Stand, but the big screen did look impressive last night although it's a lot of money to spend on a big screen is £500,000.

Sinfield was my MOM and without him out there orchestrating/directing play Leeds wouldn't have won.

You are, of course, joking? By the beginning of the second half Leeds would have won with Eddie Hemmings 'orchestrating/directing play'.
Sinfield indeed had a blinder, but 34 points difference in the teams?

Salford in attack looked afraid of their own shadows.

Too many Leeds supporters are reading too much into the performance. The old adage of you can only beat what is in front of you remains true. Unfortunately that was not a lot.

Having seen 3 out of 5 of our games this season we probably rank 14th for effort and teamwork. We seem to have a better squad than Wakefield because of their financial troubles and the players they had to let go. Without a significant step up in effort and desire to defend our own tryline I can't see us finishing any better than 13th.
