Superb all round performance today, how good was our defence, it set the platform to go on and win the game comfortably.
Dewsbury were just not allowed to play, they rely on Brambani so much, i know Patch would have made a difference but thought on this game only, Tansey was poor.
However its only the first game, but if we can defend like that against other teams then were in for a good season. Well done lad's.

Brilliant performance, great defence and intensity for the full 80 minutes.

Hard to single anyone out but thought Ash had a cracking game capped off by super try, Brown made good yards, Tiger looked sharp and controlled the game, and Preece had a blinder at 9.....it was noticeable how much quicker he seemed to bring the forwards onto the ball from dummy half than Lythes does.

Best display of the season from Walton too.

Fantastic performance. There is usually a few grumbles after a game, but today has been the most satisfied I have been walking away from a game since Blackpool last season. We out fought and thought them. Our pack was awesome and the half backs were great also. A thoroughly professional job.

I must say that well done to Walton and Brown as I have criticised both of them so far this season but I thought they were outstanding today.

I think they could have played all night and not scored.

We were sat in front of Jowitt and Matty Walker and boy was amusing listening to them on their walkie talkies. His main tactic is to threaten players with the axe for the following week. It was like listening to a drunk person trying to order a kebab!!!

Don't get too carried away. maybe for your next game the other team will actually turn up and play.

Good solid team performance from a well-coached Batley side today. You'll do well in the division this season if that level of commitment is continued. Half backs looked good but the forwards laid the platform for their success. No weak links whatsoever..................and no complaints about the referee either!

Agree with your comments.Batley where better than Dewsbury in just about every department.
Tansey did not look interested. He looked a quarter of the player who started at Leeds.

Its only one game BSJ so not going to start tipping us to win the League just yet, but good to see such a strong all round performance, mixed with intensity and determination. If we play like that throughout the season it will take a good side to beat us.

I agree about the ref, which is very rare, and not just saying that because we won. Thought he was fair for both sides.

I guess you can only play as well as your opponents let you, and as said previously our defence was fantastic, but expected more from the Rams today, especially after their recent results. Thought they looked very short of ideas going forward and one dimensional (an observation rather than an attempt to provoke.).

Well how satisfying.I really thought we were in for a tough one this afternoon, but as someone said, we dominated them in every department. Preece was excellent at hooker, as with the whole pack.

It was quite like the match in January, with Dewsbury still relying on Brambani. Tansey completely outplayed by Handforth, and our backs looked sharp.

Onward and up ward hopefully.

No disrespect at all to us, but I was really surprised how shockingly poor the Rams were today, especially after recent results. I reckon they could have still been playing now and not broken through our defensive line.

Couldn't agree more, Nick. Preece was absolutely outstanding distribution-wise - we looked very fast around the play-the-ball to day and on the rare occasions Preecey darted from dummy-half he caused them all sorts of bother. I thought Ash frightened the life out of them too.

I'll give us about 94 out of 100 today. Outstanding work from every single player involved.

I too had the pleasure of sitting in front of Jowett and Walker today. What an absolute treat that was. Some classic one liners combined with technical gaffes and a bit of slapstick. Think somewhere between Jimmy and Timmy from Southpark, the Three Stooges (but only two of them) and the hicks in The Waterboy. Gold!

Bit of a selection headache next week for Karl me thinks Chairman. I'd personally keep the same team, with Lythes missing out. Nice to have some strength in depth though with Mennell also to come back, and Mr Flanaghan in a few weeks, although it's bound to take George a fair few weeks to get back into the swings of things and match fit.

Maybe Preece's performance today will give Lythes the kick up the proverbials to get back to the levels he was at 2/3 years ago, as at the moment we dont really need him in the 17.

I understand Flanagan will be available sometime in April? I have to say, Preecey has been outstanding of late - he puts in a massive shift wherever he plays - he's now a full-back/winger/stand-off/hooker. He's gonna end up the Paul Madeley of RL at this rate! But he ALWAYS plays to the best of his ability.

Think Flanaghan's ban ends on the 31st March, but dont quote me on that.

Preece gets better and better for me, and improves each year. One of the first names on the teamsheet in my opinion, in any of the 7 positions he seems to be able to play in!!!

Martin was limping very heavily after the game, i heard one of the other players mention his ankle ligaments are damaged so there may be at least 1 change

It's one of the few occasions when there did not seem to be a weakness in the team. Preece is an outstanding team man and clubman and responds to whatever he is asked to do. He really does put in his shift and more every game.

The forwards were excellent, and put in the hard yards. It was great to be stood next to some Dewsbury supporters who were singing the praises of our pack!
I am also more and more impressed with Riettie and Williams every time I see them.

Next week will be a real test but I am looking forard to it immensely.

With a this praise, I think Mark Toohey is a worthy mention. He really stood out for me.
Good alround performance today. Just a pity Dewsbury couldnt put up a pinch of a fight for entertainment value.
As for Tansey, well i counted 3 sets for Dewsbury where he didnt touch or even shout for the ball.
