Anyone statistically minded might be able to work out the odds of 14 out of 16 super league teams being drawn apart in a 32 team draw.

My money is on 13 of the last 16 being super league.

The same thought crossed my mind. Was the draw televised and if it was how were the teams picked?
Castleford at home  Should be a money spinner (relatively speaking), I'd be tempted to be a bit synical and put the prices up to £16, but give a £4 discount to members who produced their cards and purchased in advance.

Hope its not a repeat score, from the last time Cas were here. 106 - 0. But to be fair it was one of the worst referreing displays i have ever seen, and i have seen plenty over the years.
A penalty count of 17 to 1 against us, 2 sinbinngs for holding down, and a ref who should have had a Cas shirt on. Craig Halloran i think was the so called ref.
A large VAT Dave please.

Bugga!! Well lets put them in the Sandy Lane end and charge £16 transfer to seating

I wasn't in favour of the last bar charge but for this one occasion I'd swallow it with a grin.

So we're going to get less in ticket sales than for a League game? Seems a bit rough

So what's to stop any Cas fans that aren't season ticket holders 'borrowing' one off a mate who isn't travelling over?
Another way the RFL have designed to deny the Championship clubs their 'once-a-season' chance of a much needed extra income!
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of......

I think you're off there Mal with the 'once-a-season' mate. The next one is that part of the money from the competition is now given as tickets that you have to sell to get the full amount and of course these tickets are the least wanted ones which if you have any chance of selling will have to be heavily discounted.

I've said it before and I believe it's getting near that we should boycott the Challenge Cup as we get nothing out of it financially and I'm sure Stanky would welcome a few weeks to try and get some of the lads fit for the nitty gritty.

If anyone wants to volunteer to help sell programmes and Golden Gambles on match days and especially on the Cas match please get in touch via my email.

Got to agree with the suggestion of boycotting the challenge cup but we would need a sensible alternative. In my opinion that would be to make the Northern Rail (or whatever) Cup the feature cup competition running through the season rather than an essentially preliminary event for most clubs. There is no real interest for clubs like Rochdale and Oldham in being drawn against SL teams as the outcome is inevitable which makes the game less of a draw for floating supporters or the wider public. It would also be critical to make the final a show-piece occasion which is easily accessible to the fans of championship and amateur clubs.

It's about time to strike back against SL domination. A challenge cup amongst themselves would be pretty naff especially if there wasn't 16 SL teams meaning teams would get byes in the first round.

Difficult times need bold decisions. As things stand, interest and support in RL outside SL is slowly waning. Sorry for the rant folks but the state of the game distresses me!

As a relative new-comer to the sport I have to agree with the boycott idea, if all the non-"Super-Duper" League teams were to agree what could the RFL do? Sure they'd try to fine us all, perhaps they'd even withhold what few Trickle Down funds they mete out, but what kind of message would that send? It would be confirming what we all think already: The RFL don't give a flying f*** about the teams outside of their elitist society, they do the bare minimum to keep us afloat, and pour millions into advertising, and back patting such as Millennium Tragic, sorry Magic, if that kind of money was fed back into the Championships, or even the Amateur game it would do much more good for the whole sport, not just the few Rugbier-than-thou, American Football wannabe elite.

In case no one noticed, not making anything from entertaining a Super League team at home really got my back up.

Boycotting the Challenge Cup would result in the RFL stopping all the Championship Clubs funding that fail to take part, Don't think £120k+(Minimum) is something the Championship Clubs could do with out.

Agreed, but it's a pee in a lake, compared to what the highest echelon get, no? And what did the Millennium weekend cost? Is there any net benefit to the game as a whole from the jaunt to Wales?

We'd be talking about a gesture that would be a wholesale indictment of the RFL, not just a few fans grumbling in their beer on a Sunday afternoon.

All you have to do is take a peek into the RL papers on a Monday to see the disparity in coverage. Red Hall needs a wake-up call. I imagine I'm not the only one who would stop going to watch the game if my local club went under.

Having the Tigers at our place would have been a genuine opportunity to help top-up the coffers, imagine if they'd brought a thousand fans, that's be in the order of £8,000 to £12,000 on the turnstile, but of course it isn't.

Same could be said about Premier League in Football. Do Teams like Rochdale enter because they think they can Win it ?.Teams get Paid to be in the Competition(So much each round), How many Castleford Fans who travel will be Season Ticket holders ?(Ask them to provide Picture I.D. to stop the Season Tickets being used by others)

Not the point, every bum on a seat that isn't paying weather or not the season ticket is actually his, is money we should have had sure we get something for being in it, and possibly more for getting as far as we have, but we, and other clubs at our level are losing out big time on money we need (not want) to keep the game alive, at local level. Cas fans would likely come even if they had to pay to get in, we'd make, Tiggers would make, and the game would be won on the field, how is that bad?

There are Strange People who make the rules at all levels in Society, some we like, some we don't, Take it or leave it. I'm with you, you come through the gate, you pay the entry fee, Take out your Costs, then Split the Gate. But we don't make the rules
