I find it strange that you guys didnt have these same concerns when you got in free for your challenge cup game against Worky ?

At the end of the day everyone knew about these free games when season tickets were sold and its abit rich grumpling about it now. Cas may bring 5000 fans who in turn may spend a fortune on food and drink, how much of those profits Hornets see will be down to the deal you have with the stadium owners.

I had absolutely no idea that my Season Ticket got me in for the last round until I asked to buy a ticket at the office. I think the idea is flawed and stupid as with most things the R.F.L. come up with. This is the final slap in the face from the powers that be and nails any chance clubs outside S.L. have of making anything at all out of the CC.

The Championship clubs should get together and give an ultimatum to the R.F.L. that if nothing changes by year X they will refuse to enter the competition and that would put the ball in the court of the governing body and with enough time for any shenanigans able to be put in the public domain. Oh yes, it's OK to pump money into Celtic, sorry what are they now, and Toulouse and Fulham, sorry what are they now, but the traditional clubs get zip. Hornets go bang and get slammed with a 9 point, or three wins slap in the face, Celtic, sorry Crusaders and Wakefield go bang and it's only 4 points or two wins. Come on let's have it fair and equal hey???

Hull ripped the Challenge Cup rules apart a few seasons ago and got a fine, that was more than offset by the television money they raked in and the money for being losing finalists. Halifax did something similar, BANG, out you go and a fine. The difference, figure it out yourself!

All I want is a level playing field for ALL clubs, Super League AND Championship and then we can all be judged the same.

The 'MAGIC' weekend is flawed, it should be held after the end of the football season at either Old Trafford or similar and then the fans wouldn't have to fork our for as much transport and the crowds may be bigger, but a weekend in Manchester isn't the same as Edinburgh is it, and the RFL have got to keep their wives happy.

For years now supporting Hornets has been a non-stop battle to keep the club, both old co and new, afloat and I'd like to get to a position where I can start enjoying just watching the game without wondering about how we are going to come up with even more fund-raising ideas!

The ultimate in backwards steps has yet to come. What happens if Wakey abd Crusaders finish in decent positions, who are the RFL going to dump out with us when they promote Widnes, Leigh or Halifax? Or could that go the way of all flesh?

Pugwash.

The idea of a traditional Challenge Cup tie not being all pay is ludicrous, the game is bolloxed.

It must make other sports fall about laughing.

I would think it would be extremely hard for Hornets to strike up a deal where as the Stadium Company pass on some of the sales generated on the day.

Andrew Birch is quite right there is only so many fundraisers the club can put on, Hornets earned the right to a big pay day in the cup that apparently will now not happen.

How many more nails will it take before the coffin outside Super League will be ready.

That would be nothing then.

I presume the clubs knew the arrangements, in fact somewhere down the line these arrangements must have been aproved by the clubs must'nt they. So in that sense did the chamionship clubs vote like turkeys for Xmas? Presumably on a majority rule the championship clubs outnumber the SL.

Anybody know when these arrangements came in and who voted for them? At the moment championship clubs are cannon foder both financially and playing wise in the CC.

You're right Anita, the clubs must have areed to this but it is never on a majority vote. There are all sorts of gerrymandering in place at Red Hall, like a certain percentage must be in favour which means at least one SL club has to vote for us. That wouldn't be too clever now would it? Then you can always imagine the scene. Club A is contacted by SL club B, how about supporting us in this vote and we'll lend you Joe Bloggs for a season and we pay the wages. Well it could happen?!?!?!?

Times like this remind me of the acronym B.O.H.I.C.A., or bend over here it comes again!!

Clubs complain that attendances have dropped in the Challenge cup. RFL propose that season ticket holders can get in for free to help boost the attendance, get people travelling. Clubs then complain that too many people are getting in for free...only in RL...

Hull were fined because that’s all that the rules allowed. Halifax were chucked out because the rules were tightened after the hull fiasco. Hard luck Halifax. Nothing to figure out and no conspiracy.

Let’s boycott the challenge cup, I mean the attendances for the Northern rail cup show that the fans would jump for it...

After the loan the RFL gave Hornets and the shares in the stadium that they are keeping safe for you and all the help they gave to get you restarted, I find the anti RFL, they only look after super duper league, never give championship clubs anything, whoa is me, stuff hard to take. Maybe the RFL should sell the stadium shares to help fund SL teams, I mean that's all they care about right?
With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Having a better attendance to print in League Express/League Weekly wont help teams at our level What the RFL should have done was to limit the free tickets to kids with a paying adult

Boycotting the Challenge Cup is not the answer and like it or not we have to put up with the current arrangements. The only way to change it is from the inside, not by shouting slogans from the sidelines. The RFL have done a lot for us, without them we would not have a club. Yes, they are not perfect and yes they possibly could do more, but it's only by meaningful dialogue that things will change. I'm sorry Pugwash, but banging on about 'Stupid' League does you no credit and is the language of the playground. No-one will listen to that.

So what about the match itself then? How are we going to fare? Castleford seem to be a better side this season and no doubt will be 'resting' some of their stars, but I hope we can make them feel they have been in a game. C'mon Hornets.

You are correct XG, a lot of what BR posted is correct. The truth is the RFL have done a lot for this club, some thing which I think we all forget sometimes (including my self). It puts me in mind of Monty Pythons Life of Brian when the question is asked "What have the Romans done for us?"

But that doesn't mean they get everything right and there's more clubs in the Championship than just Hornets. The RFL has missed a chance to inject a little much needed extra money into our leagues. I'm sure Gateshead and Doncaster need the money just as much as us.

Any way it's a done deal, lets make the best of it.

Can't seriously see us progresing past this round unless Cas send a much weakened team, half the reserves and half the youth squad and we might stand half a chance. It'd be nice if they did and JS in a post match interview just stood there, shrugged his sholders and said "you can only beat what's in front of you"

Lets hope the Obby push the game for us and we get a few floating fans and stay aways back.

Any body like to have a guess at the attendance, I'm going with 1800.

Who now represents Hornets interests down at Red Hall? I presume someone from the committee?
