Just visited a few local watering holes with the big squad and fixtures posters. Put them up in the Park Inn and the Moorside Farm and left two others at the White Swan and Morning Star with the staff who said they would find good places for them later (I hope). A few days ago I put posters up at the Newmarket, the Windmill, the Britannia, the Borough Social Club and the Pendlebury Social Club (Ex-Pendlebury Legion).

Talking of fixtures Riggy, why is your match with Keighley to be played on 7th August instead of on Good Friday?

It certainly makes it harder for Town because we have Haven on Good Friday and then away to Keighley on Easter Monday. With them not playing it will be hard one for us. Likewise, you will be fresh when you play Donny on Easter Monday after they have played Oldham on Good Friday. There are no other Championship 1 fixtures scheduled for 7th August either!!!

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

Hi Keith
Nice to hear from you.
The Keighley game is now on Thursday 4th August at the Willows with a 7-30pm Kick off its been moved from Sunday 7th August last week. There has been no official word yet but it seems some of the fans think it may be a Sky Thursday night match so watch this space. Nice win for you guys last weekend.

It was an excellent win for us as the team played as a team and scored some very good tries. I think the young lads are starting to believe in themselves and we are hoping for more of the same at Donny this weekend.

Do you know why your match was originally scheduled for 7th August instead of Good Friday as it was on the first list of fixtures published that way? It just seemed strange because as I said there are no Ch 1 games scheduled for that date but yet there is a full Championship programme scheduled!!!

Come on Riggy!! I thought you were a real local yokel like me - Wickes on "Bolton Road" (A666). Wickes is in Clifton, yes?, so it's Manchester Road, not Bolton Road (Pendlebury). Manchester Road (A666), Clifton starts at the junction with Little Moss Lane where the Oddfellows Arms stands.

I've been sticking A4 posters promoting upcoming matches in my car windows for the last few seasons.
If anybody wants to be e-mailed a copy for upcoming matches then PM me and I can e-mail copies to them so they can print a couple off for themselves.

What I can do is put a few fixtures on one sheet so that they can be distributed to local pubs etc if anybody is willing to do this. With a few fixtures on each sheet they then won't have to be replaced after every match. We do have a big gap with no home game between 9th April and 27th May!

Obviously the ideal scenario is that all the pubs and shops in Swinton put up the larger official Team Photo/Fixture List but I hear that a few have refused to put it up as it's a bit large for their premises.

For information, if you click on the pinned "Swinton Stadium Poster Campaign" topic on this forum you'll see places which have put up our posters in the past. If there's one near you ask them again now please!
