Whitebank can be best described as a work in progress. It is a small ground and has limited seating of about 200 seats. With the rest of the ground being standing. As there as yet is no terracing around the ground, you need to find a good vantage point if standing. I am 5' 9" and have not found it difficult to see the game, although some people have moaned on here that they cannot see from where they stand. Its like back to the old days of being close to the action and when your side wins, makes for an enjoyable day. Outside the ground there is a large social club which always welcomes spectators. The view in the ground is comparable with Sedgeley Park. There is no cover for standing spectators and toilet facilities are basic.

Limited cover, limited seating and no terracing.

However, you are close to the pitch, the pies are good and lots of potential. I had no problems getting on a barrier at the gateshead match.
With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

300-400?
Excellent news, you are all very welcome. Even if I fear the worst.

See you there.

Depends if you want to contrast with Wembley town centre or Wembley stadium! Whitebank is probably somewhere inbetween.

What Whitebank should demonstrate to Swinton Lions supporters is a minimum standard for RFL sanctioning Championship One matches, w.r.t. getting the Agecroft site up and running (we can but live in hope!).
Rugby League - great game, shame about the administration.

You have made it to the new Wembley then Phil.

As for Whitebank it has a pitch both teams can play on your on top of the play and that'll do me fine.

See you there Phil.

Wrong again Alan! Another thing on the list of "would like to, but presently cannot do".

Seen enough of the new Wembley via the media though. A bit above what is on offer at Whitebank I suspect.

The old Wembley wasn't exactly a brilliant ground, but Wembley town centre is "Rough with a capital R". Who knows what possessed the powers that be to build the national stadium there in the first place. We shouldn't have compounded the error by redeveloping on the same spot in my opinion, but c'est la vie, after all its the FA in the frame for that one so say no more.

For once Phil I have to agree, the national stadium should have been built around the Birmingham area central to everyone.

I have to say however the lure of a weekend in London against a weekend in Birmingham is no contest.

On a further note and please don't take this thye wrong way, If you wanted to attend Sundays match i would happily taxi you from home to Whitebank and back after the game, both my son and myself will be going leaving a full back seat in my car empty. The more Lions fans the merrier.

Would love to go, really miss seeing live action, have masses of empathy with the Oldham supporters (not many clubs have been kicked from piller to post to a similar degree to Swinton Lions in recent years, but Oldham definitely is one), the weather is set fair, the team is playing well and I anticipate a strong performance. But! Just not practicable. Frustrating? Yes! That's life at the moment. Please stop these repeated digs - when I'm in a position to do so I will be there. This is a rugby league forum not a health forum.

Phil that was an offer in all sincerity and not as you put it "a repeated dig".

If travel was a problem ...then i was offering you a solution certainly not highlighting any health issues.

Unfit for professional sport. It is about time the the RFL imposed minimum standards, or at least insist that clubs with inadequate facilities charged an admission price which reflects the poor facilities.

The RFL do impose minimum criteria don't they?
Ain't it funny how you think you're gonna be OK
Till you remember things are never gonna be the same again?
Ain't it crazy how you think you've got your whole life planned
Just to find that it was never ever in your hands?

At a meeting for Supporters Direct there was a representative of the RFL talking about ground criteria, he stated that Whitebank was the absolute minimum that would be accepted for Championship 1.
