Scott Yates
Head Coach John Stankevitch has shown his hand early and is keen for Hornets members to be kept aware of our team strengthening.
On debut on Sunday are:-
Wayne McHugh.
Sunday wont be the first time Wayne has worn a Hornets shirt as he played for the old club a few years back, but it will be the first time he has played for the new Hornets.
A top try scorer where ever he has played he gives us what should be the best centre pairing in the division.
Mark Biggins
Mark has been signed from local amateur side Mayfield. He has been playing in the Mayfield side chasing promotion and has been one of the stand out players in the Town Team.
Mark has shown his commitment to testing and improving himself, firstly from Club Rugby to Town Team, and now from Town Team to Hornets.
Danny Ekis
Danny comes after Great Britain International and Wigan Warriors prop forward Stuart Fielden personally contacted Stanky to recommend Danny.
Danny has been training with the squad and Stanky has selected the "firebrand" prop.
Martin Keavney
Martin played at Blackpool Panthers last year. He will give us coverage at hooker as well as being able to play at half back.
Another good signing for Hornets and one that will give us more options around the ruck.
Pugwash.

Looks like we had to lend them shorts, and I was thinking we might have given them the game, but we turned them over hard in the 2nd 40.
Perhaps we should play from the start like it's the second half.
We're now 6th on the table, a point ahead of Oldham, and behind Scorpions only by points difference.
Onward Hornets! Onward!

I asked Walter if we could do something to help out and after asking Gareth he said yes, even though Gareth wasn't expecting anything.
I propose to put a collecting box at the turnstile and at the top of the reception stairs and ask fans to donate something which we will present to Gareth at some future occasion if enough are in agreement.
As for the game, well yes it was a little disappointing at times but we had four debutants in the side which always takes a bit of time to work but all looked to be very worthwhile indeed.
I'll start the collection with a fiver.

Till you remember things are never gonna be the same again?
Ain't it crazy how you think you've got your whole life planned
Just to find that it was never ever in your hands?

Think a bigger fund raiser needed as we have a lot of lads
out at the moment
And would be nice if we could give everyone of them something
to show we appreciate week in week out them putting their
bodies on the line for our enjoyment
My thinking cap is now on this calls for more than a quiz
And remember you have to speculate to accumalate

Two evenly matched teams in the first half I thought, thank God we stepped it up a bit in the second half.
We struggled last season away at Donny, hope JS is on top of it.

What happened to him?
He broke his leg very badly and sustained nerve damage which may be permanent. As Gareth is employed as a P.E. teacher this has ramifications beyond his playing career.
I just considered a collection as that could be for everyone not just the ones who attend fund-raisers. No problem putting one of those on at a later date to start a fund for injured players. Let's see what the thoughts are.

Edit - After speaking with John I can accept that this posting was proberbly a bit harsh and maybe unfounded, John also informs me that he dosent write all of the stuff attributed to him posted on the clubs website I am meaning in particular the pen pic of Wayne McHugh in which is makes reference to "old Club"/"new club" - makes you wonder who does write this stuff?

Better to finish 5th or 6th and be here for next season, bills paid and financially stable than go out on a limb and spend money that's not there and end up like Blackpool.
And more Fans will come and watch that ?...........Don't think so

Not only were attendances higher in 2010 and 2009 seasons than in the last year of the "Old" Hornets but todays attendance was up over twenty percent on the same fixture last year.
The attendance of our game versus the Lions this season was up over 50% on the same fixture last year.
Are more fans coming? Yes they are!!
Don't get me wrong, we do need more but you need to get your facts straight.
It's better to rebuild at a steady sustainable rate, at least Hornets fans will have a team to watch, unlike Blackpools fans who are twiddling their thumbs now.

What you bringing the Old Regime up for ?, on about Now, Aiming for 10k for Workington game, be lucky if you get 1k, Your struggling against Average Teams, looking for excuses, same every week the Team dosen't start playing until the 2nd Half, WHY ?, How long will it be before the Coach has is Methods Anylised like the Previous Coach Did ? 5 wins from 17 games dosen't make good reading for any potential New Fans.

A good barometer of how many have attended is the prize for the Golden Gamble. Last week against Swinton it was £70 but I fully expected it to be lower today. It was exactly the same £70, and the crowd was given as over 400 which I think is quite good given that 95% were our fans.
Reading some of the posts on this thread my old nose is twitching and that can only mean one thing.
We'll see eh?
