"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

This is a long season, you played very well last week and enjoyed a good win. there will be times in the season when teams dont play 100% every week, but you just brush yourself down and start again.
Enjoy the rest of the season.

Considering we had at least 6 first teamers out (2 injured and 4 on holiday) and we suffered injuries toDoncaster weren't exactly world beaters, we were just very poor.
a further 6 players during the game including one of our halfbacks and first choice fullback, both
centres and a winger I thought we did alright.
And, yes, you were poor but I'm presuming you had an off day.......

I dont think it was a bad result. If we can go unbeaten at home ,sneak a few away wins and if we get beat, get a bonus point .I think then ,we would be up at the top, dont be too disheartend by today result....long long way to go yet.
Up The Town!
It wasn't the result that was the problem it was the performance

On a side note the team arrived at exact same time as we did, and after that journey my legs were still achey and stiff at half time so I'm sure the lads weren't feeling 100%. We need to put a couple of wins together and our next 2 fixtures is perfect opportunity before we play haven.

I thought Donny did well, but I think what Wonky is getting at is you didnt do anything spectacular, and didnt need to. Just did the basics very well, and opened up in our 20 when needed. As for Town, I was going to write a nice long paragraph or 2 to say what went wrong, but I can sum it up in one sentence:-Considering we had at least 6 first teamers out (2 injured and 4 on holiday) and we suffered injuries to
a further 6 players during the game including one of our halfbacks and first choice fullback, both
centres and a winger I thought we did alright.

We were ######, we didnt want it as much and some of the player need to take a long hard look at themselves.
One more thing though, Donny`s stadium is superb, a fantastic modern ground with excellent facilities. Everytime I went to the bar, the toilet or whatever I couldnt help thinking we could have something similar to this, although on a smaller scale if it wasnt for certain peoples narrow minded views.

Sad but true.
As for the match so we played ******** and still won the second half. Doesn't that give us some hope ?

That depends on the amount of commitment shown by the 17 people wearing the shirts on the field, Oneday. As the coach said on the radio yesterday when they go away it's like a different mindset even though they are still playing on a green bit of grass with white lines painted on it.
This league is a hard league this year and we think, no, we know, that we have a squad of players capable of being in the top three or four, with the right application and commitment. They showed that sort of application and commitment against Leigh and Oldham at home and Haven, twice, away so why are they not doing it away from home. Is it a case of out of sight (of the fans) out of mind with some players?

there were quite a few town fans sat near the pitch yesterday keith, and we all travelled a long way to watch a p*** poor performance, but for some reason some of them were jumping about at full time as if we'd just got a super league francise, and if the players see that the fans are happy with a poor bonus point then they are going to believe that it is acceptable.if we had played with 70% of the commitment and passion as we did last week,we would have won the game, truth is i would say it was more like 15% to 20%.That depends on the amount of commitment shown by the 17 people wearing the shirts on the field, Oneday.
