Oldham will fight it out right through to the end of the 2011 season to see who comes bottom of the league . . . Oldham , Skolars or Gateshead ... I think it will be them 3 but who knows in what order ...??
Oldham will go to Hulll and concede a record score of 146 - Nil, by any Oldham proffesional rugby team .. EVER :(
As for the distant future in the year 2041 . . . Chris Hamilton will cling on to POWER for another 30 years to beat Moammar Gaddafi's 42 years reign of Power in Charge in Lybia ... but Nato will take no action against Chris for rear of injuring the 26 spectators at the ground during the game ...

We at Swinton have waited a very very long time to have such a competative team, during that wait we have seen some very good Oldham teams who on many occasions have given us a few good hidings so it was nice to get one back today.

However I do feel for the Oldham supporters as I can see a lot of similarities between our teams in the past and your current crop.

I have read a lot of passionate reports from many of you and sympathise, all i can say is that things can be turned around it may take time but I am sure once again Oldham will be challenging for top spot.

I really hope your just an Oldham fan hurting at the moment...if not your club doesn't need fans like you.

I predict every time we lose there will be a post by roughyedz. I also predict it will go quiet when we win a few.
With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

I will be the first to post when Oldham have a good win ...just cant see a WIN till we play either Gateshead or Skolars ..... I call it as it is .... I do not have rose tinted glasses on ........... and in respect of watching Oldham winning ... I remember watchin Oldham play around 130 games over the 1969/70 to 1971/72 seasons ( 3 ) and they won .......er 15 to 20 in total I think .... thought those days would NEVER return :( ....... and that was when they palyed 35 to 40 games a season .... not the 24 ( or whatever it is now a days )

I don't think anyone could accuse you of rose tinted specs! but you really are looking at it very pessimistically to say the only wins are Gateshead and Skolars, not untypical of Oldhamers in general.
Half the team was out, any side would struggle with that impact.
Get those back in and we will be much more competitive.
The team will have learned a lot so far, and will improve.
Not denying how disheartening the results so far, but a scatter gun blame game helps no one.

My prediction for the league

1.Swinton- quality spread around the pitch backed up with vital experience with Dodd,Watson,Smith, Gallagher and Joseph. Should win by around 5 points
2.Keighley- Excellent pack with quality in the backs although they rely on youth too much especially at half back
3.Workington- Also got an excellent pack with a fantastic seven. Wouldn't be surprised if they finished in the top two.
4.Whitehaven-Experienced all around the pitch should get them a top four finish
5.Oldham- There is a good team under there somewhere I just hope it rears its head sooner rather than later. Too much inexperience to reach the final
6.Rochdale- Have a very good first 17 but they have had so many long term injuries that it is going to be a major struggle .
7.Doncaster-Slowly improving and also have an excellent scrum half in Spaven
8.South Wales- Will struggle without as many dual regs and the loss of a superb coach
9.London-Also slowly improving. They will score a lot of points
10.Gateshead- going to be a real struggle judging on their last three games where they have conceded over 150 points.

I reckon Workington will win the grand Final due to their X factor at scrum half.

Hi
I think that is a fair listing you have there M.Brooksy .
The Lions will have to keep playing as they are and i think personally the main threats come from Haven & Keighley both very hard teams to win away at but i do think the Roughyeds will come back strongly and was very impressed with young Robinson just need a few just like him and i am sure things will pick up. It's a shame Paul O'Connor is not their i always rated him and had him as your main threat coming forward.

All the best for the season

I think both Rochdale and Doncaster will finish above us. Just remains to be seen whereabouts we finish in the bottom four!
I cannot ever recall being as disillusioned about the club as I am right now - it's very depressing being an Oldham supporter at present!

My thoughts on this posting are...
The Future...
No idea due to a lack of actual facts of the state of the finances and the potential backing for the club /ground development and allied exiting plans.
My thoughts If we couldnt get out of NL1 with BQ`s financial backing its now even less likely with a stadium to sort out and no BQ largesse.
The rest of the season...
It is delicate as most of the fans can probably suss out why the side is as it is, despite the laudable "made in Oldham" Recruitment policy...suggesting a shoestring financial scenario...
My Thoughts are that we just have to have a competetive and winning side up there with the best in NL1 as It will be hard to settle for anything less after so many "Backed" near misses and so far we are clearly falling short in that department.

If it is an either/or scenario then inevitably, regrettably support could dwindle along with the hopes and aspirations of the club...1997...2011 kinda run out of time for me, and the RFL remodelling of the National Leagues looks like another Barrier to struggle to surmount.
I can accept that Chris Hamilton thinks he can pull it off,I hope he does It would be a sterling effort and worthy of all the plaudits due to him if he does.

For me however His Time is up!

I am just glad Chris Hamilton does not give in as easily.
In the Chron it is stated that maybe as soon as 4 weeks things on the stadium will be able to be confirmed, that will be a game changer.
Of course, it will be longer, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
If you can't see that, you need to turn round, your looking back not forward.

Sadly, as Roughyed fans, we're programmed to expect that light to be a train!
Ain't it funny how you think you're gonna be OK
Till you remember things are never gonna be the same again?
Ain't it crazy how you think you've got your whole life planned
Just to find that it was never ever in your hands?

I dont like to say this but looking at todays score there is nothing that has happened in the last 2 months to change any of the predictions from April 3rd .... I have not been on the forum for ages but I see that there aint many posts now, which would seem to suggest that the same applies to quiet a few others .... Only need to look at the Topic " Direction Of the Club " to see where its going ...UNFORETUNATELY .........
