I would like to invite your association to the privilege of participating in the first ever Rugby League tournament in Thailand - the Pattaya 9's.
The event can be used by your club or association as a warm up event for another tournament, a team social event or as part of an end of season trip.
With Thailand being centrally located, a comfortable exchange rate and a friendly atmosphere, the Pattaya 9's promises to be one of the most popular social Rugby League tournaments.
This tournament is open to developing countries of Rugby League, club and social teams of all abilities. If this email has gone to an association can you please distribute amongst your club teams it would be much appreciated. More than 1 team from the same club is welcome to participate.
Invitations have been sent to all clubs or associations in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UK, Europe, Americas and Asia. It is hoped that a range of teams from different countries will participate and with a large expat and tourist population in Thailand the event will be billed as "a celebration of Rugby League."

Details of the event are as follows:
*The event is a 9's tournament (9 players on the field) with a total of 15 players per squad playing 2 halves of 9 minutes.
*The event is a pool based competition where you play each team in your pool then progress to the next stage of the competition. Cup or Trophy finals.
*Prizemoney will be available to the winners with the amount decided by the number of teams participating.
*The event is scheduled for June 11, 2011 and will be played at Horseshoe Point Resort, Pattaya. Pattaya is 1 hour east of Bangkok and is easily accessible from Bangkok International Airport. Pattaya is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand and is surrounded by nice beaches, islands and golf courses. There is also the famous Walking Street entertainment strip which lights up at night with its restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
*Accommodation is available at the venue at very reasonable rates or alternatively there is lots of accommodation options around the city for all tastes.
*Assistance can be given for any team that requires information on travel arrangements or places to stay.

If you would like to express an interest or need further information regarding the event please dont hesitate to contact me by email sydneycup@live.com or by phone on +61411744917 (Australia). Please also see attached flyer for the event and distribute amongst your clubs, players and officials.

It would be a pleasure to have your team be a part of history in the first ever Rugby League tournament to be played in Thailand. Come and join us in the celebration of our great game, Rugby League. I am confident that all your team's participants will have an enjoyable and memorable time of being part of this event."

Got sent this last week by the tournament organiser... (He did have his name on the email sent out, but will keep it private).

Sounds good.BTW that picture looks very much like a Cronulla player in the no 10.A chappie by the name of Steve Kneen from the distant past.Had a habit of decking players with high shots.None of that of course permissable in tantalising Thailand.
Rugby league :If it was art, it would be a Monet.

Not exactly a good selling point to casual players seeing a player strolling away from another player holding his face in pain.

"Would just like to give you the courtesy that the dates for the Pattaya 9's Rugby League tournament has changed from June 11 to October 15.

The extra time will allow some more teams to be better organised following the feedback i have received."

Looks a bit sleazy to me.

Looking at it closely, I'm not sure the player on the ground has sufficient control of his arms and hand to be able to hold his face!

That's Pattaya for you. Not been there but a mate of mine told me that women were trying to come back to his hotel room (obviously for cash) even before he'd actually got a hotel room.

Well let's just hope that everyone is well behaved, because no matter the level of the game, we all carry the flag in representing rugby league.

I'd imagine anyone paying good money to go on a rugby tour to Thailand won't be doing so with the intention of being "well behaved" to be quite honest.
