The former Swinton players at Rochdale have had some very mixed luck with injuries this season, Phil Wood notably suffering a season-ending cruciate ligament tear, and now Gareth Hayes has apparently decided to retire after picking up a bad injury in training.

Good luck to him, gave the Lions some good service.
Rugby League - great game, shame about the administration.

Sorry to hear that about both players, I particularly liked Gareth Hayes, cannot help thinking how well he would have done if he was in the squad right now..............

Hi guys,

I'm organising a collection in aid of Gareth and we will be doing a fund-raiser as well I think so if any of your lads and lasses would like to contribute I'm sure Gareth would be made up.

He was there onSunday watching the lads even though he is suffering badly.

Pugwash.

Numerous coaches picked some dire players ahead of Gareth and I could never understand why. He was a big strong lad and really fast! But most importantly he was a nice lad,he was at every game and he was friendly approachable and had a laugh with the fans. His double leg break sounds horrendous. Good luck with your recovery Gareth.
Woody-legend for Swinton. `nuff said.
