Last night (Friday), Billy Pattinson was inducted into Workington Town's Hall of Fame during a suberb Vice Presidents Dinner. A packed Tom Mitchell Lounge saw Billy receive his award watched by several ex players who came to honour Patty. David Beck, Johnny Jones, Gordon Cottier, Gary Smith & others were there, & a top table of Billy & his wife, Eddie Bowman & Ian McCorquadale, (who interrupted a family holiday in Spain to fly here for the event, flying back out today). Eddie said a few heartfelt words & Corky made a great speech about Patty. To top it off the Lancashire Cup was there. A great evening I think enjoyed by all.

Just to add that it was a really brilliant evening with lots of laughs and many rugby memories with some of the ex-players.
I remember when .............................
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

I only saw him at the end of his career when he was Town hardman but my Dad tells me he was a great player and a loyal servant to the club.
Well deserved.
