It doesn't matter who the referee is if you play like we have been doing. We had to defend many sets on our own line against Doncaster and 'Haven and by and large did it very well. If players allow referees to get under their skin because of perceived bias then that's when they stop playing well. Just get on with the job.
No reason whatsoever why we can't beat Keighley on Sunday, let them worry about us eh?
Pugwash.

I'm not sure how much better we would have done with a different ref, a little maybe.
But here's the thing; I don't think spending more time questioning his dubious deciions in as loud a voice as possible, then shouting for the lads is helpful. (And yes I did it a couple of times too, so I'm holding my hand up to me too.)
Why don't we jsut all get behind the lads on the field, who are out there working hard for us. We managed it last week.

Personally, I had no problem with the referee today.
He seemed consistent in his decisions, he gave virtually nothing round the ruck for both sides. I didn't think the pass to Saywell was forward but that's always a difficult call to make and he was nearer than I was.
The whole affair including the result was down to our poor performance either side of half-time. We conceded just on the break and they anothe couple just after the restart. We lost a certain try on at least a couple of occasions and we gave them an easy two when we kicked out on the full from the 25.
Keighley were the better side in the final analysis and took more of their chances, handled better and fell off far less tackles then we did.
Sometimes you just have to give credit to the other side for baeting you and today was one of those days for me.
From where I was sat I could see that Stanky was absolutely furious at some of the play that was on show and I'm sure he told the miscreants in the privacy of the dressing room after the match.
The new lad, Stewart seems a good lad, he steams in and takes some stopping, he put a decent kick in and made a try with a deft lobbed pass over the defence.
Ah well, a bad day at the office, we've all had them, just put it right for Oldham on Good Friday.
Pugwash.

Any chance we could blame Rochdale for cutting the pitch up badly yesterday?
Perhaps they should go for ground sharing with Bury to give the Rugby League team a better chance of winning rugby.
(Tongue in cheek in case any reader hadn't worked that out).

I thought the turning point in the game was when the touchjudge signalled a forward pass against us when we were in the ascendency and looking like scoring only for some weak tackling allowed Demetriou to score under the posts making the score 16 - 10 to Keighley instead of 16 - 10 to us.
As both sides decided to ingnore any sort of tackling strategies it was left to Jason Demetriou to control the game with his deft passing. I thought that all in all Demetriou was the major difference between the two sides.

Guess who we have as ref on Friday............Mr Holoran..........AGAIN! I just hope the older touchie we had yesterday takes a holiday over Easter?
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of......

I spoke to the ref after the game, despite his many faults I have always found Craig happy to explain his decisions on the field. I asked him three questions
1/ What was wrong with the scrum when you brought it back 4 times, Hornets players were all down but the Kieghly players were stood up and not locked in?
Reply: Your (Hornets) prop would not position his leg to allow the ball into the scrum, I warned him four times and said I would penalise him next time, which is what I did.
2/ What was wrong with us pushing in the scrum when you again penalised us (Hornets)?
Reply: Hornets pushed before the ball went into the scrum.
3/ Why on two occasions Hornets knocked on and Kighley gathered the ball did you wave play on, yet when they spilled the ball metres from their own try line and Hornets gathered the ball you stopped play? we were in a very good scoring position.
Reply: As soon as I blew my whistle I knew I had made a mistake and should have let play continue, but having made a decision I had to stick with it, apologies.
Craig sent his apologies to the fans in the bar for not being there, his wife gave birth on Friday and it was his turn for the night shift.
All in all I dont mind a referee who is willing to give his reasons for the decisions he has made on the pitch, right or wrong. In two out of three of his decisions (which the crowd disagreed with very vocaly), he was correct.
Not sticking up for him mind, still think he owes us one.
Kind regards

To his credit Craig Holoran has always made himself available after games, but he does have games where he seems to lose the plot somewhat? As a person he's a nice guy, as a consistant referee......the jury's out!
On the other hand the older touchie I referred to either needs a refresher course or a visit to 'SpecSavers', he was appalling on Sunday!!

Can anyone imagine a football league referee in any of the professional divisions being happy to, (a) Go into the bar, (
Talk about his perfprmance with the great unwashed, and © Admit to an error?
Neither can I and that is why I always look at the performance of the teams before I blame the referee.
Long live rugby league.
Pugwash.
