Hey Guys,

Did anyone get along the London 9's? Would love to hear your thoughts.

I unfortunately had other commitments, but our Try Tag Rugby team made the Grand Final going down to Hammersmith. Along the way we claimed the scalps of some of the biggest names in London RL such as Skolars, Hemel, West London and Storm. A wonderful effort from a bunch of blokes who had never played together before. I am pretty sure we made the London RL community sit up and take notice of us.

A few interesting facts about the team, around 13 of the 15 are regular Tag Rugby players in our London leagues. One of which, Tim Ross is our England Tag Rugby coach for the series against Australia later this year. At least 3 of the squad have played junior reps with NRL teams, so it was no surprise to me to see them do so well.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing some first hand reports from people who were there.

I'm sure there are a few people who have tried to find out the results/ how the day went on the interweb, but no luck. Perhaps someone who was there or involved in the comp can point us in the direction of results etc. Cheers.

The comp had a couple of late pullouts, but went ahead with 8 teams. Everyone played each other once and then there were semis and a final for a plate and cup competition. I can't remember the results of all the games, but the 4 teams in the cup were : TryTag, Hemel, Hammersmith and Wests. The 4 teams in the plate were South London, St Albans, Bedford and Skolars.

Hammersmith beat TryTag in the final of the Cup, and South London beat Skolars in the final of the Plate.

It was a long day, but most people had fun, there were no serious injuries I was aware of, and it was a good way to blow away some cobwebs before the regular season starts.
