Outlaws beat Leicester 36-22 (I think) in a very entertaining pre-season run out. The game was close until the last 10 minutes when they Outlaws finally managed to pull clear. For a pre-season friendly the pace of the game was blistering, some great defending by both sides and there was some periods of great rugby on display.
The current Leicester team seem to be a good bunch of lads, and with a bit more RL experience I think they'll make a good team.
I'll post a link to the match photos once I've cleared some space on my hard drive, then edited and uploaded them. I may be some time...

Leicester are definitely a strong side now, just they need to make sure they keep it up til the end. Last year they were easily as good as us for 60 minutes but we got a few tries in the last 20 minutes. Once they get that sorted they'll be very hard to beat.

Was very impressed by bits of what I saw today. When things "clicked" for Leicester they looked really good. They've come a long way in the last 4 years when you consider the state the were in after Walmsley moved on and they had the purge of the nut-jobs from that era. There's a really good team spirit now, and they seem like a decent bunch of lads. Give it 10 years and people will be talking about the M1 Corridor rather than the M62 Corridor ;-)

Yeah Ty's done a lot of good since he went there, they are running juniors this year as well.
Yeah remember the nutjob era well, they got a game called off against us for threatening the referee then the next couple of years their standard dropped drastically.
Give it 10 years I wouldn't be surprised to see both clubs semi-pro.

Certainly bodes well for the National South element of the new pyramid. Leicester and Northampton both shaping up strongly and Notts are obviously a class act.

I actually got the official lowdown on the Outlaws plans (as well as another well known Midlands club) for the next few seasons, but I'm not sure how much I can reveal before things are set in stone.

I just hope the London clubs go for it otherwise it will be short of numbers. Personally I think the RFL's plans to keep the RLC National alive under the branding Conference South will have to be scrapped though the northern clubs left can call their league where they want IMO even if the decide to call it Southern Conference (North) or something. Though I'd prefer strong Yorkshire and NW divisions including BARLA clubs.Certainly bodes well for the National South element of the new pyramid. Nottingham there have been posts on here indicating they may choose the north so guess that's something to wait and see on.

This idea of trying to slap a disingenuous badge on what's left of RLC National threatens to ruin the credibility of the new structure.
RLC National should cease to exist next year. The remaining northern clubs should slot into the appropriate rung of the new ladder. The southern clubs (ideally including Nottingham) should join the new National South division, alongside Souths, Wests, Hammersmith, St.Albans, Cov, Leicester, Bristol, Hemel, Northampton etc.
When you reel off the names like that, it actually has the makings of a fairly exciting comp.

Coventry and Hemel have both applied for Championship 1 so we'll see on that front but otherwise I agree.
I don't think they could keep it going if they wanted as if we have several clubs go up to Championship 1 (I'd expect Wizards to apply too) and a couple join the summer NCL then I don't see what's left being viable as can't see many southern clubs rushing to put their name forward for regular trips to Yorkshire and if they bring in more Yorkshire clubs the name would be even more disingenious.

You're not kidding!!!
, some great defending by both sides and there was some periods of great rugby on display.
Great game to ref. Odd bit of backchat but basically two teams trying to play rugby. Rather than trying to stop players fighting, it was a case of managing the game and letting the rugby decide. In the end Nottingham had a bit too much experience and were quicker with the play the ball. Leicester can, and will, only get better

Or could you understand the Jock
Or could you understand the Jock
A lot of Yorkshiremen believe that when God created the world, he made it with perfect balance.
He balanced the hot areas with the cold areas. the dry areas with the wet areas.
And, in creating Yorkshire, he created the most glorious place on earth - full of majestic beauty and sporting giants.........and for balance he created....... Lancashire.

No, most speccies down here aren't 100% sure of the rules and know they aren't. Up North they don't know the rules but think they do.
I am a equal opportunities ref who receives abuse and "advice" from spectators regardless of race, creed, religion, country of origin or sexual orientation.

Yes he did. he should now be able to explain what a dominant tackle is.

Was he up to his usual tricks - i.e holding down for about 10 minutes?
