Absolutely fantastic performance today from all 17 players. To concede only 6 points to a good Rochdale team who had a superior penalty and we were also down to twelve men was heroic defending.

I've bagged Ellison this season but he was stupendous today especially at the start where he set the tone for the rest but I thought the whole pack contributed towards a fantastic game. Clarke was excellent especially over the horrendous circumstances under which he was playing and Noone was sensational at loose forward. Boults continues to be superb and in my opinion has been our best player this year. All the backs worked their blood to water especially the two wingers and Fogarty had another extremely promising game which was unfortunately curtailed by another injury. Forber looked very good in terms of organisation and backing up and took a lot of pressure away from Ratty. Both hookers were very good especially Clough who looks fantastic whenever the pack give him a decent platform.

Rochdale were extremely strange today. They had four massive props who were always going to struggle in this heat and the rest of the side, English and Keaveny aside, didn't seem up for a derby game. This missed McHugh of course but I don't think he would have made that big of a difference to the scoreline.

The ref was O.K ,he seemed to give Rochdale everything in the second half but if they were penalties he had to give them. He tried to let it flow early on which I felt helped us set our own pace which Rochdale just couldn't live with.

On Monday we have a very tough game away to Whitehaven who have just drawn in their derby against Worky. Hope we can put in a similar performance on Monday.

Also nice to see POC at the ground today and all the players clearly enjoyed seeing him at the end of the game. Would be nice if we could sign him for the rest of the season as he seemed in great shape and over his shoulder reconstruction.

Great performance yesterday, expected a much tougher game against a Hornets side who has started the season well.

Prior to the game thought Diveney was unlucky to be left out, but TB got it right (I know, I haven't said that often recently), Forber gave us a bit more on attack and hopefully will improve further as he gets to know the team a bit better.

Thought the pack was very good Boultsy and Elli were great. Noone is still class at this level.

Why din't Valu back himself to go in from 15m out early in the second half? Waited for Forber and we bombed a try, thought Valu could have strolled over.

Very impressed with Foggy who really does have some strength, Junior still looks a bit rusty but hopefully will improve in next few games.

The boys defended their line superbly in the second half. Think there was one period where Hornets had a series of penalties and we defended 4 sets on our line - great effort. Ref seemed to want to keep them in the game second half.

A very good team effort today and a massive step forward from a few weeks ago.

COME ON OLDHAM!!!! COME ON OLDHAM!!!!!

Fantastic performance. Fantastic weather. Fantastic atmosphere. Bone crunching tackles on a bone hard pitch. Rochdale never seemed to get into it but that was largely I think due to our speed, tenacious defending especially on the line and great backing up for some very good tries, especially up the hill in the second half. Boults was outstanding, forgiven a dodgy knock-on by being personally responsible for two tries with his bursting through. Ellison back on track. Great effort all round with backs joining in the gang tackling and scrambling defence and a lot of game time in very tough heat by the forwards. Great credit to Clarkey who said he wanted to play after the tragic loss of his dad in the week. And fantastic to see the whole team swarm over him when he scored his try. Such tragedies are horrible and put the game in perspective, but that outpouring of support for the lad says a lot about him, a lot about the players and a lot about the spirit this club needs to utilise to succeed.

I still can't understand why we don't kick down the slope more, not a 40-20 attempt all day from us. Not sure where the Hornet's fans were, didn't see more than 10 away shirts all afternoon. They'll play better than that and we need to use that as a spring board for tougher games ahead.

Great stuff..well done boys. More of the same, please.

Forgot to mention that the kids go free seeemd a great success. My daughter made her first trip for over a year and was busy improving her maths adding up the points. Good stuff though she missed Roary the Roughyed and was mystified that the PA went for a burton just at the cheer-leaders' half time dance (She'll learn...being mystified is part of supporting Oldham.). We got in the ground about 2:45 and her ticket/voucher was number 96, which suggests that a decent total of kids came. I hope that the free entry scheme continues betond Easter and a lot of them keep coming.
