So in 2011 we got a new coach and a decent team, and in return a 100% league record up to date. What more could any Swinton fan ask for. I don’t often praise the club for much, as I mostly feel disenfranchised from the whole thing. However, hats off to JK and PK for bringing in Steve McCormack and getting that winning mentality back. I was thinking about station road and the last time we were promoted, the players spraying the fans with Champaign, although it could have been a cheap cava, I really hope we do the same again this season. I am rather excited!
Dont worry, it will soon be Christmas!

Might be a bit premature but I often think about a possible promotion celebration.

Having only been 5 years old when we left Station Road, natually I don't have many fond memories of success for Swinton so I'll be making the most of it if and when we do it this season!

Now now, lets not curse things  Doncaster will be a good test to see if were made of the right stuff. We will definitely be there or thereabouts at the end of the season but weve still got some of the hardest games ahead of us.
Im only smiling because `no-one`'s found the bodies yet.

I was talking (one sided) at one of the girls at work, and realised just how long it's been since we won a major (or any kind of) trophy. 1987 Second Division Premiership.

Barnie, the last time we won promotion the home ground was Gigg Lane! Peter Roe's first time around.

As things stand there is a clear dividing line, i.e.; on-the-field its going swimmingly, off-the-field there remains massive room for improvement.
Rugby League - great game, shame about the administration.

It will be interesting to see how you fare against Dewsbury in the cup in a couple of weeks. Most people think the gap between CC & CC1 is widening and it will be a good test of just how good you are when you come up against the Rams who are struggling a bit in CC1. I enjoyed our cup game last season against you lot and wish you well for the remainder.

Au contraire - what we have is a mixed bag, a curate's egg - i.e. "good in places". I've been talking up the team's chances of success this season for months! Real world is where we need to be.

The team's on-field success will not have maximum impact while people like Barnie feel "disenfranchised from the whole thing". As we all know the reasons for that are found off-the-field, ref Barnie's previous post on this forum "Are we back to being treated like mushrooms?". It doesn't need to be that way.

Its clearly great for those who have kept the faith to have a winning side to follow at long last, and very nice indeed to hear that people's enthusiasm for the club is being rekindled, and yes people cannot be blamed for getting a bit carried away in the circumstances. But - this is only the tip of the iceberg! What do these wins actually mean to a schoolkid growing up in Swinton who has never known the team have a base in the town during its lifetime? Just think how good it would be if this winning run were combined with a clear positive direction on the ground front! The future would look bright. As things stand, it isn't entirely clear where things are headed.

Some may not want to think as far ahead as next season and enjoy the moment, and good luck to them, but that day will be here soon enough.

I would question just how many true Swintonians are left living in Swinton following the influx of people into the town from the surrounding Salford districts but i take your point on board.
Sometimes in life you have to put your trust into people and hope that the result will be one that you want.No matter how much you think the club should reveal all it's plans to everyone surely even you now realise that they just don't work like that and in rugby league and indeed football circles they are not alone.

I am hopeful that we will move to Agecroft next year and will do so as a promoted club and even better champions.

People are starting to talk about Swinton now and the only reason this is is beacause of the winning team we now have not the fact that we don't know what will happen in the close season, further evidence of this are the new faces at matches and the level of away support proof if ever there was that a winning side is the catalyst not a shiney new stadium although when it happens the latter will be most welcome.

Great support from the fans yesterday and from where i was sat in the press area on the tunnel side their were more Swinton fans than Doncaster fans in the ground. There are more and more new and old faces turning up every week and if the team can keep playing the way they are i am sure we will get more people watching us. There are some real big tests coming up over the next few weeks and we need everyone behind the team.
The team spirit is excellent and they really appreciate the support they are getting so keep it up please and if you can bring a mate to a match then all the better and we can build the support even more.

Thanks for listening

Riggy

The crowd for the same game last year was 430,so we obviously took plenty with us. The atmosphere especially at the end was immense.
And Im enjoying the moment, because lifes too short not to.
