We played them in a trial in Jacksonville 3 years ago. It was a pretty entertaining game too. Always good to put yourself up against an Aussie team at a similar time in your preseason.

From memory it was hyped up and and Leeds put out a full strength squad whereas the Rabbits played a team of mainly second stringers and Juniors, it made the game a farce from what was promoted.
Leeds are fielding their best team, here it is.

Why is everything in RL always a farce? Why can't it be disappointing?

Maybe Wire should concentrate on winning the league, and then they will get to play an Aussie team anyway.
Fair point, but still think the idea is great as long as both teams put full strength teams out.

That's what we're currently doing

That is actually a valid point, but I have often wondered why we don't make more effort with pre-season games. I'd love to see more touring teams, with possible mini-tournaments like they do in football. I appreciate that in winter this may be more difficult, but surely if clubs got together and staged a mini tournament the crowds would turn up.Maybe Wire should concentrate on winning the league, and then they will get to play an Aussie team anyway.
I personally find the pre-season pretty boring, as usually we play Salford, Widnes and Wigan (the only really attractive match for fans). I'd love to see something like Warrington, Wigan, South Sydney and the USA Tomahawks (or similar) in a 4 game tournament over a week with double headers at the HJ and the DW.
Surely these games could attract interest from Sky, and I would expect they would attract bigger crowds than current pre-season games. Staging these in Britain (or France if Catalans were involved) would probably make financial sense with the current exchange rate.

Why should it even be disappointing?
Crowe built the game up like nothing else and made out like it was the Souths version of the WCC.
He delivered a team of second stringers and up and comers with a couple of regulars it was 26-0 to Leeds at Halftime until Leeds treated the second Half as a training run chopping and changing players.
If you are serious about a game (one of your own making) you would do all you can to have a full strength team, not the joke squad that went to the USA, that is why its a Farce. It was almost a late end of season Junket for the youngsters.

I have often thought the same. However, it is probably the costs of putting on the tournament that put a club off. Unfortunately, we don't have professional teams conveniently located in europe who we can fly in. If warrington had to bring a couple of australian teams over, even if they could be persuaded to come, costs would be too high to make it worth warrington's while. Unfortunately 6000 (or whatever) punters at the HJ would ake the event a big lossmaker.

Aussie clubs would never come here for a pre-season game. They have to be pursuaded to come over for the WCC!!! And the weather in January is so unpredictable you'd be hard pressed to get any teams over if they thought a game might be called off - as usually happens here anyway. The Leeds v Souths game in Florida was probably not a bad idea as you can guarantee the weather, and it's sort of handy for both teams (although I'm sure Souths might argue that one!!!) A tournament in Dubai or somewhere like that could work, but then you'd have the problem that the NRL starts a month later than the SL so NRL teams are only just starting pre-season games. They'd be unlikely to want to risk star players 2 months before the start of the season.I personally find the pre-season pretty boring, as usually we play Salford, Widnes and Wigan (the only really attractive match for fans).
