I’m a bit disappointed to here that the Co-Operative has decided to sponsor Rochdale AFC solely rather that perhaps the Stadium where as both clubs would have benefited given the historic importance of the Co-Operative within the Town.
Or even a joint sponsorship of both clubs running concurrently.
Good sponsors parting with mega cash are like gold dust and I feel we have perhaps missed the boat on this one?

It's a Sponsorship deal, not a handout. By working with Dale, they will get their name on over two thousand shirts that get sold around town, they appear on numerous highlights programmes throughout the week both on terrestrial and satellite TV, and given the past few years, it would be likely to appear live on TV as well given the number of times we've been broadcast live. We're a club on the up, and with the greatest will in the world, we're the only good news story from this town to ever make any headlines whatsoever. Hand on heart, I don't think any Hornets supporters could claim that given the lack of benefits to them, a Co-op sponsorship deal involving Hornets would be nowt but a handout.

I think that you know the point I’m making Col there has always been a feeling that the Co-op would become the Stadiums first main sponsor and indeed discussions have taken place in the past and this would certainly have greatly benefitted both clubs.
I have no issues at all with the Dale brokering the deal good luck to you. Your other points about Hornets and future partners are in my opinion doing an injustice to the club.
Perhaps the reason Carcraft sponsored Hornets way before sponsoring Dale was that perhaps at the time they would have been backing a dead duck with the soccer club. But it did not deter Dale getting the best deal that they could.
The mighty Dale next stop Camp Nou. Good luck for the rest of a brilliant season.

With the CO-OP sponsoring the Championships they might not be able to sponsor a team as part of the deal

What I would say is that the going rate for shirt sponsorship would massively trump any going rate to sponsor the stadium, simply down to the level of exposure that the shirts would get in comparison to the stadium name getting mentioned. A Stadium sponsor would be fantastic, but they've been trying in vain for 10 years to get one, and I'm sure they'll continue to do so.
As for us, I know we're on the crest of a wave right now, but am equally sure that there'll come a time when we fall upon hard times again, and hopefully we won't have to stoop to having a watering can on our shirts like we did in the bad old days.

Hey Mark, just a minute, I see nothing wrong with this thread and have no intention of intervening in it. You and Snoopy have got yourself into this and you can get yourself out of it. Although I would love to see the Co-Op sponsor Hornets Col's arguement is sound.
Don't try to make me your fall-guy.
Col, you really should make yourself known though as this is an non-playing thread.

Dear me Andy the day I need you to bail me out will be a first, how many people have you got to identify themselves on non playing threads? I bet that is why Hornetto and Fast Eddie, Bruce Almighty have done one

Why should 'Coldale' make his self known when 'Arthur Daley' & 'Pooing Dog' don't have to make their Identities known on the other Thread that has been moved by the 'Main Moderators' because you seem unable to do your job properly ?
