why was standard cup final played at oldham rugby union and not at oldham rugby league ? can anyone shed any light on this one, i know it was a week ago but not heard as to why this occurred-----------------

Apparantly the rugby union club didnt charge for hosting the game but kept the bar takings. I believe for it to staged at the whitebank would have set them back £700, maybe a missed opportunity?

Don't have Stewards at Rugby Union Grounds and the Car Parking is Usually in with your entrance Money at the Union Club or the Oldham RL discretion !, believe our Club Quoted cheaper also for the Final as we asked after the Semi - final !

Did OLDHAM RLFC not have to provide the STEWARDS ? as is the the Policy of the RFL !
Rochdale Hornets have used Mayfield's Ground and HAVE PROVIDED there own STEWARDS !
The Amateur Leagues don't have to provide stewards for there Games !
Bet you don't use as many Stewards at your New Ground as you did at Sedgely Park !, won't be enough Room !

Heard the reason why it wasn't played @ whitebank was that it would of cost oldham ARLFC league £700 a game and they had to agree to a 10 year contract to play at whitebank with Oldham Rugby
The Standard cup should be played at Saddleworth St Annes or Waterhead grounds with the crowds the game now draws all these clubs can hold and look after crowds this size
