Great news. Well done to Houghie and all the lads. To see them so competitive against the reserve teams of what are, in the main the Championship clubs is really good news and is a great tribute to Houghie's hard work.

just like to know how oldham can make a press statement about releasing players, please they let me know what they are releasing them from,I know for a fact they never paid these kids a penny in contract money, they only ever played for match money which i am sure they earned, they were asked by Oldham to play for Oldham U23's team, a team oldham RLFC got extra funding for, i would love to know how much the RFL gave extra funding to oldham because they ran a U23's team and how much this team cost

Dont think you've much chance of that. You've more chance of finding something out thats under the official secrets act

My guess is they have released them from their registration to the club, so if they wish to look for another pro club where they may get more opportunities they can. With regards to how much money the club receives for running a reserve side. It has no relevance whatsoever to how much it pays players. The RFL releases money to clubs in the lower divisions on meeting criteria, and I am sure they do not insist you spend it all on players wages.

Fair point but read RL press, League Express & rugby leaguer and not a mention of these players being released only seemed info was released to Oldham Chronicle so again a question who released this and did these players get the same back page headline when they signed a contract
