Just been on the Worky site they are not a happy bunch, But well done to Hornets a great win up there.
Just one of the comments.

Well what can we say about that? We were terrible from start to finish, and made a very ordinary team look like world beaters. Our defence was the worst I've seen all year, our attack was slow, un-directed and how we kept letting the ball go dead on nearly every kick off is beyond me. We have too many players playing below par, kris coward was unusually poor today, kaighan was a passenger who slowed every play down he got involved in, and I'm sorry but people need to stop making excuses for Brett carter because he was the worst player in a town shirt by far. And how comes we have probably the biggest pack in the league but make the least amount of yards? The only real possitives was Patrick who was head and shoulders above every other town player, stack made good ground and I thought pedley was good when he came on but for some reason he keeps getting limited to cameo appearances. Overall a day to forget as we fall further off the pace
A large VAT Dave please.

Well Arthur, I'm just back and I must say that the day was a personal victory for Stanky as he set his stall out to counter the big Town pack and he did just that. Of course, the players were also instrumental in carrying out his orders and to a man they did just that. Crook was massive today, kicking all his efforts I think and getting a personal points tally of 20. All the props deserve some mention and especially Ashall who took a massive knock but came back on to finish the game later.

When Town took a late lead the old Swearing Grandad near us started chortling about there being 80 minutes in a game, unfortunately there were only about 78 gone and Crook produced a great kick-off to bounce it dead and they had to drop out. Hornets' forwards hen drove it close to give the backs a chance to spin it out wife right for Wayne English to dive over in the corner. Crook converted and then the hooter went before the game could restart. The irony was lost on our 'friendly' grandad as we helpfully told him the game was 80 miutes long.

The players went over to the far side to greet our fans over there then came to greet us as they made their way to the tunnel.

Make no mistake this was a very hard fought win but very well deserved and forget about the sour grapes about 'ordinary team' which couldn't be further from the truth!

1 to 17, heroes all.

Well done.

It's good to see that ost, if not all, are blaming their own team and not just falling back on blaming the referee and Touch Judges which is usually the case for some fans.

The wind was very strange today and for the first few kick offs the team kicking off won the ball bach in some way. Crook was kicking into the hard ground and the ball spun and bounced wickedly over the defenders on at least four occasions. Town utilised the wind by kicking into it and letting the ball blow back to them.

If I remember rightly the last try was after Crook kicked off towards Town's posts and it kicked up and over the defenders in the in-goal area. All through the game the flags at one end were blowing one way and the flags at the other seemed to be blowing a completely different way?!?!?!

Our game plan seemed to be that we wold play a very heavy pack, full of props and they were rotated regularly and every one of them ad a big game. Yet again JS shows that when a problem occurrs he is capable of thinking out a game plan and training the squad to play to the plan. We took every possible opportunity to kick at goal and that proved to be the difference as we wee outscored in tries. How often have we outscored our opponents in tries and lost?

Altogether a great day and I'm smiling so much it's starting to hurt!!!!

Maybe not our best performance with many mistakes, but the one thing that stood out to me was after the 'winning' Workington try on 78 minutes was our lads determination not to capitulate, I think the hurt they felt at that moment galvanised them into one last determined effort.....and it paid off handsomely!
With 30 seconds to go the sight of several hundred Worky egos hitting the floor after thinking they'd put one over on us was BEAUTIFUL

Snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. How sweet was that? We hardly ever win up there, a display to be savoured alright, well played boys!

Comment from the Worky supporters sat behind us at the match when the final hooter went "Well that was a great game even though we did't win"
