With the new that both Brocky and Boults will be out for this game along with our long injury list could we be faced with a tougher task than playing one of the in form super league teams in Hull.

My team would be

Heaton
Fogarty
St Hilaire
Bradbury
Gillam
Roden
Diveney
Ellison
Clough
Gilchrist
Clarke
Wood
Noone

Bentley
M.Roden
Sutton
Stenchion

Hi Brooksy

Once again not much to change with your team although I wouldn't put Junior out on the meadow for this one and I'd take the chance to give M.Roden a rest, therefore, my team would be:

Heaton
Fogarty
A. Wiliams
Bradbury
Gillam
Roden
Diveney
Ellison
Clough
Gilchrist
Clarke
Wood
Noone

Bentley
Whitmore
Sutton
Stenchion

According to the BBC these are the two squads.

Hull (from): Aldous, T Briscoe, Dowes, Gleeson, Horne, Houghton, Lauaki, Manu, Moa, Obst , Phelps, Radford, Sharp, Tickle, Turner, Washbrook, Westerman, Whiting, Yeaman.

Oldham (from): Williams, Wood, Clarke, Whitmore, Ellison, Bradbury, Dallimore, Clough, Gillam, Gilchrist, Stenchion, Sutton, Fogarty, Ward, Diveney, Noone, Robinson, Nield, Bentley.

Looks like the team would be something like this:

Nield,Robinson,Fogarty,Bradbury,Gillam,Dallimore,Diveney,Gilchrist,Clough,Ellison,Clarke,Wood,Noone. Subs:Bentley,Sutton,Stenchion,Whitmore.

I really fear, without sympathetic refereeing, it could be 100 plus. I hope not, but Hull have named a really strong squad.

Hull look to have almost there first team out whilst you could argue 1-7 apart from Gillam is our reserve side. Wouldn't be at all surprised if it was 100 points.

The gulf between SL and the rest is getting wider by the season - and that's progress according to the RFL/SL. Gone of the days where 6/7 lower teams could push or even shock their more illustrious counterparts.
If it carries on, the Challenge Cup is a pointless cup competetion which will always result in a SL team winning it. It happened on many occasions pre SL that second division sides would frequent the quarters/semi finals and push the top teams to their limits. That's gone sadly. If it carries on in this format, then a handicap system should be put in place. I.e. SL V CC1 team, should field at least 11 of the 17 from the Under 23s, SL V CC, that could be reduced to 8. What drive is it for Oldham to play Hull on Saturday when a) we are ravaged by injury B) the money we make as a club will be nothing more than a token gesture. What good will it do Hull or Oldham for the home side to run riot? If it went to the proposed method, I am sure that it would be a lot more competitive and both teams would benefit from it being a cloaser game, and for player development.

Personally, I can't blame the club for not putting out what would be considered our strongest team. We have already had, and have, a number of injuries to players in key positions. The last thing we need is to have even more in a game where, at best, we could come out of it with a few "Oldham played to the end", "Oldham made their division proud" type of comments.

We should use this opportunity to rest some very tired and sore players for the main job at hand, which is making the play-offs.
