WELCOME
to NRL Round 10
Posted Image

Everyone reading this is welcome to take up the challenge whether you've entered previously or not.
N.B. We're back to a full eight games with all teams taking the field.
ROUND 10 QUESTIONS:

*Poll Competition:
Let's turn last week's question on its head and ask:
Poll Question:
How many teams will score only 9 points or fewer in R10?
- enter in the poll itself at the top and put it in your posting. (The poll is anonymous so we can't give you credit unless it is in your predictions post)
...And now the main event of the week:
*Match Tipping Competition:
Name the 8 (that's EIGHT) winning teams in NRL Round 10 2011
*Points Competition

How many points will be scored by all the teams added together in R10?
This is a competition in itself and will act as a tie breaker for the match tipping comp if necessary. This is used as the decider when necessary so do give it a go.
*AWAY Win Competition:
How many AWAY wins will there be in NRL R10 2011?
In rounds where the game is on the road and played at a neutral venue, the team named first in the fixture will be regarded as the home team for the purposes of this competition.

Fixtures

Animated awards will be given for the winner(s) of each competition question.
Match tipping scores will be added together as the season progresses to produce a Tipsters' Ladder which will be pinned to the top of the forum topic list page.
So ... are you up for it?
New entrants are always welcome: entering the comp is a great way to get involved in every game of the NRL this season.

The best of luck to everyone

What a set of results so far with just Monday's Gold Coast v Manly game to be played.
Some of us have had to steel ourselves to look at our tipping results as the scores have come in.
So far the most successful of us have scored 4/7.
Well done if that's you (13thman, Barney, RF)

Just to share the agony about a bit, here are the R10 results to date:

Bulldogs 10 - 15 Dragons Away -
Panthers 33 - 10 Broncos Home -
Storm 12 - 20 Raiders Away -
Rabbitohs 29 - 18 Tigers Home -
Cowboys 40 - 26 Eels Home -
Knights 16 - 25 Warriors Away -
Sharks 18 - 4 Roosters Home - 1 team scoring 9 or less

The results may have been a shock, but the games I've seen so far the best team on the day has won.
Storm lacked their sparkle against Raiders. the Canberra forwards impressed more and their outfit seemed more driven.
The Storm team had more drive last weekend on the back of the rep games than a week later after a rest.
That last try which sadly settled the result though was a surprise. I couldn't see why it was given as benefit of the doubt. He either touched the line or he didn't. To me the picture was clear enough and I thought he touched the edge of the line. The picture couldn't have been better, so the unbiased video ref should have said yes it was a try or no it wasn't.He had to see it as he saw it. To use the phrase benefit of the doubt was weak to my mind.
Panthers seemed to suddenly wake up and produce some attractive footy. Michael Gordon was superb and inspirational before limping out of the game. What a shame that he is now out for the rest of the season with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Broncos were very disappointing considering they'd brought their rep players back in. They played nothing like their previous games.
Tigers had one of their dull games too. Considering the talent in their team list they were out enthused and overpowered by an enthusiastic and positive Rabbitohs team.
Chris Sandow it seems can do no wrong at the moment. He had another superb game.
I've yet to see the Knights v Warriors game which was shown at the crack of dawn here today. I'll try to catch it later this week.

As a prelude to the Monday night game i watched the Sunday clash between Sharks and Roosters.
Sharks didn't let Roosters get going in this one. The played a strong and relentless game taking the victory four tries to one.
The biggest issue that came out of this game seems to be that Cronulla didn't provide a medical room for Roosters which could cop the home club a penalty.

The curtain was raised then on the Monday night match at Skilled park between Titans and Sea Eagles.
Titans never really recovered from the sucker punch try Manly-Warringah scored in the first minute or so of the game.
The Sea Eagles edged the game throughout without closing the game completely down.
Titans mounted a second half push and closed the gap on Cronulla-Sutherland with a late try by Tonga, converted by Prince.
That's the fifth win out of the last six games for manlyWarringah and back to the drawing board for Titans.

Top scorers this week were thirteenthman, Barney and Rugby Female with a respectable 5/8 on an upset weekend.
Yet again we used the points total predictions by the winners as a tie breaker.
Through this method our Champion Tipster this week is Barney again Congratulations!

Barney (-5) was also again closest to the Points Total with Rugby Female second (+6) followed by Bourbon Rat and Kiwityke (+9) sharing third place.

Our Away win predictions award this week is unclaimed as none of us tipped the correct number - there again it was an awkward set of results.
There were three winners in our Poll competition to find the number of teams to score 9 or less points, Storm 2007, G Las D and Rugby Female.
I'll create the awards asap. Likewise the Round 11 tipping competition will be posted as soon as I can get it ready.

Congratulations again to all our tops scorers and especially Barney who had a double award win and thirteenthman and Rugby Female who equal top scored.

Thanks for taking part everybody.

Right Barney, spill the beans.
What do you put this successful run you are putting together down to?

  • a hotline to the each club?
  • a wish granting special insight from a passing genie
  • ... or a bright new shiny pin to pick out the winners with? Posted Image
